Video Preview Not Working

Post by wyz135 »

Hi all, I have just purchase VideoStudio 2020 and after installation, I found out my video preview window is not working, displaying only Green and Pink. Is there something that needs to be configured that I am missing? I have attached the screenshot of the preview video's issue.

Hi
And welcome to the forums
Are you using one of your clips or one from the Samples library
If it is one of your videos then it could be the video codec that Video Studio does not like
Using a video converter to create a copy may be worth a try.
Right click the clip and choose properties, what are they? Create a snapshot of the panel, (Alt+ Print screen)
Where did the video file come from, Iphone videos have been known to be a problem for VS, Videos downloaded from the internet could be copyright protected.

Was there any resolution to this issue? I am having the same issue with VideoStudio Ultimate 2020, regardless of whether I use my own video file or an included sample file. I'm happy to provide additional details upon request to help troubleshoot. I'm quite new to the program/video editing in general, so I don't know what details would be most helpful to include here in the first place. :-) Thanks!

Hi S_mills

and welcome to the forums

Unfortunately, no specific fix for this
The problem does seem to affect MTS, you do not say which video files you are using

There is a post referring but as I say no particular fix although Chris the original poster seems to be clear of the green / pink screen with a comment here

I use MTS video and have never experienced this issue
I assume that after rendering the video that the green lines do not show?

I would advise that you contact Corel Support

Thanks for your reply, lata! I did contact Corel Support, and received the following reply (which worked!). Hope this can help some others with the same issue! [My comments included in brackets]

Enabling your VideoStudio's smart proxy may help with your problem.

1. Go to the "Settings" menu.
2. Click on "Preferences".
3. Click "Smart Proxy Manager". [In my version of VS, this was in the "Performance" tab]
4. Click the "Enable Smart Proxy" setting.
5. Then re-launch your VideoStudio.

Enable both the "Hardware Decoder acceleration" in the "Editing Process" and the "Hardware Encoder acceleration" in the "File Creation". [In my version of VS, these were again in the "Performance" tab of Preferences, and were both already enabled]
Then open your project file. Then click on the Video timeline and select all the clips by clicking Cntrl+A.
Then right click on it and select "Create smart proxy file". Wait for few seconds and play again. [This was necessary for the video I currently had in the timeline, but was not necessary for any new videos I added]

Thanks for the update on this problem.

I am sure other posters suffering the green / pink effect have tried Smart Proxy, so something to keep in mind and to make sure that they have in fact created the proxy files
As you are aware simply enabling Smart Proxy is not enough for existing timeline clips

I have the same problem. I had to download VLC Player and use the Convert file function in that program to convert all my .MTS files into .MP4 files. VideoStudio 2021 works fine for me with .MP4 files. Granted I am running a Aorus Radeon 6800XT Master. Maybe Nvidia cards don't experience this issue. Can anyone confirm?

I have Nvidia cards and have the same problem.

In my case, the same videos work fine for preview. But suddenly I got these green and pink screen in preview. Enable or disable the proxy makes no difference. Please help!

I had this problem in February on the computer whose specifications are under my avatar to the right. I have AMD graphics. For me, SmartProxy was not involved. I found that if I disabled just hardware decoder acceleration, the color disappeared. For some strange reason, again unexplained, hardware encoder acceleration caused me no problem.
