Dissolve transition to begin/end a video

Post by tjs22655 »

When I use Roxio Creator, there is a dissolve transition to to fade in from/out to black. What is the equivalent in VideoStudio Ultimate 2020? Thanks.

In "Transitions", use "Fade to Black".

I usually start my videos with a brief black color image/matte then a crossfade transition, followed by the first video or title. At the end, I have the closing title, crossfade, and another brief black color matte.

That's what I thought would work. Thanks Ken.

There's also the option to just right click the video file in the timeline and then select "Video Fade In" or "Video Fade Out".

This is the proper way.
Unless one needs few seconds black before start.

I don't "need" a few seconds of black. It's just that I prefer to add it so that the actual start of the video is all there, with no jerks or a frame or two which looks broken. Perhaps I am worrying over nothing, but this is something I have always done...

There is almost always additional ways to do the same thing.
