How to have more than one file open on the main edit scree

I was looking at a Corel tutorial and it shows having several things open in the main edit screen at the same time. When I open the program in the edit mode and want to add a new image (blank canvas) and then want to add a second blank canvas it creates another window tab rather than adding the new canvas to the original file.
I'm sure there must be a step that I'm missing but the tutorial assumes I know how to do that and apparently I don't. It doesn't say how to do that part.

Go to the Window menu and un-tick Tabbed Documents.

Thank you for answering a "stupid question" I knew it had to be easy but I couldn't seem to find the answer using Corel help. Sometimes looking for help in help is not always helpful. Depends on how I search for the topic.
