Running Perfectly Clear SE with PSP 2021

Post by davmurimd »

I use the Perfectly Clear SE plugin (included with PSP Ultimate 2019) regularly. A few days ago I upgraded tp PSP2021. I directed File Location preferences in PSP 2021 to include Plugins 2019. I get an error message "Unable to load the requested filter. The plugin may not be installed properly or may be missing files. (Plugin: Perfectly Clear SE.8bf). I confirmed the Plugin still runs with PSP2019.

Has anyone had success running the Perfectly Clear plugin with PSP 2021? If so I would appreciate any information on how to do this

Thank you

Are you running the 32bit or 64bit version of PSP (both2019 and 2021?). And is your Perfectly Clear a 32bit or 63bit plugin? If 32bit then I have read reports that PSP 2021 has problems with 32bit plugins being run on the 32bit version. And, of course, you can't run a 32bit plugin on 64bit PSP without additional software (i.e., a bridge).

Thanks for your suggestion. I had been running Perfectly Clear with the 64bit version of PSP2019 and tried to use PSP 2021 64bit. When I ran into the problem I described I tried PSP 2021 32bit but no luck

FWIW I get the same message as davmurimd when I try to point PSP 2021 to the Perfectly Clear plugin in an earlier version of PSP. It shows under Effects > Plugins > Athentech, but produces that message when I click on it. I also have to add that I bought the full version of Perfectly Clear a year or so ago, and that also appears in Effects > Plugins, and opens and functions properly in PSP 2021 x64.

I am surprised that no other users have reported difficulty running Perfectly Clear SE (2019) with PSP2021. Perhaps few people have used this combination or had trouble trying to do so? Fortunately there is a simple work around. This is to use PSP (2019) to run Perfectly Clear. Nevertheless I find it annoying that Perfectly Clear will not work with the more recent version of PSP.

Hi davmurimd
I am sure there are other posts referring to this and am sure I had in the past been able to use Perfectly Clear
But reinstalling does mess things up a little so I had another go
Try this.
From PSP 2019 I located this folder:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2019 (64-bit)\PlugIns\EN\Perfectly Clear SE v3.5
Copied the PerfectlyClearSE.8bf file to:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Plugins

From PSP 2021
File Preferences – File Locations – Plugins – Add
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2019 (64-bit)\PlugIns\EN\Perfectly Clear SE v3.5

Reboot PSP 2021

I've had this issue as well and I've just given up on Perfectly Clear. I suspect others have too but just haven't posted in this forum. It used to work but no longer. I can't even get it to work in PSP2019 and I have tried everything, reinstalled, ran as administrator, compatibility troubleshooter, etc. It actually told me at one point I had to have PSP2019 Ultimate installed before I could proceed but PSP2019 Ultimate was in fact already installed.

Trevor - I tried your method too but no luck.

I get the following error message:
Capture.JPG

Perfectly Clear Version 2 still works in X9 and my Topaz plug-ins do the job nicely.

Thank you for your suggestion Trevor. Unfortunately it did not work for me. Kathy explored many options also without success. My conclusion is that it is not worth trying any longer and like Kathy I will give up. I will use PSP2019U and hope it continues to work.

I get the same as Kathy when I try that. I even tried adding, in Preferences > File Locations a reference to C:\Program Files\Corel\Plugins but again got the same message. However, as I indicated above, I already have the full version of Perfectly Clear bought from its new owner EyeQ. I can only wonder if the purchase included some tinkering which broke the link with earlier versions of PSP.

Very strange that it works on my system, checked again today after rebooting the pc, that always gets turned off over night, Perfectly Clear is still working using PSP 2021, so I have no idea what the difference is.

Kathy
A little strange that your version did not see PSP 2019 as installed.
I assume you install both 32 and 64 bit versions.
