Welcome screen removal. I resent being advertised to.

Post by noose »

How do I hide this God awful welcome screen? I want the edit/workspace tab to be the first thing to open. It's called Paint shop pro, Not Sell to you or Photo organizer software. I used Jasc software PSP 7, paint shop photo x2 in past, Those were usable, You could change preferences to hide splash screen and updates. I did hide splash screen, but I can not figure out how to avoid that unnecessary Welcome/Home/Advertising screen. I read the remove thing here https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=65942 and knowledge base article and it was unhelpful.

Thank You Kathy, that does NOT help. I'm using PSP 2020 22.2.0.8, I bought/donated it from humble bundle. It was SUPPOSED to be a full version just like retail.
I'm curious if Corel thought me obtaining it that way was a license to advertise with no way to disable. I've disabled messaging, unclicked everything and STILL I get pop-up ADs from corel. Disabling CUHelper didn't either.

Unrelated but may be related to this skimmed down version. I can NOT scale picture tubes, I need to be able to do so. I don't want to have to step back down to PSP x2 but I will.

Okay, the instructions I gave you are for avoiding the Welcome Screen on startup as I thought that's what you were looking for.

As far as I know the Humble Bundle purchase is the same as the retail version but I have never purchased from Humble Bundle; only directly from Corel. I know others in this forum have purchased from Humble Bundle and they can advise.

We all get the ads and it has been discussed many times in the forum; so much so that there is a sticky topic discussing potential solutions. Hopefully you will find one there that works for you.

Thanks. bit off topic but anyone know if new CEO Christa Quarles had experience with Paint Shop Pro in the past? Kind of secretly wishing she was a fan way back yonder to reconsider all the over the top promotional nags.

Make sure you have "create as new raster layer" checked on the tools option toolbar and you will be able to scale.

I see tool option, If I bring up the scale palette I'm not seeing that either. When I created new layer, it said raster background checkedmarked

Okay, there are two ways that I know of to scale a picture tube. One way is to use the pick tool on the tube; the reason I said to check the box for create as new raster layer and the other is to use the scale option on the tools option toolbar; not the scale option within the settings icon.

It might be easier to show you with a short video.

Thanks for the reply Kathy, I am a bit late. Problem is I don't have those settings there. only those when you click on the gear icon.

That is odd. Try doing a reset to see if that sets things right.
