New Computer PSP Options

Post by Linda Lou »

Hi Everybody! I'm getting ready to set up a new computer, but am aware that we are allowed to install PSP on only 3 devices. I'm concerned that I'll get an error stating that I've already used my installations. Do I remove the install on one of my 3 current computers first before installing my PSP 2018 on the new computer?
OR another option:
I'm getting a popup for a discount on PSP 2021 "Upgrade". Can I use that as a standalone on the new computer, or does it have to be an "upgrade" for the 2018 version already installed. In other words is that download an .exe that can be installed on the new computer?
One more thing: Has the crop tool and ad popup situation been improved since the 2018 version?

Upgrade refers only to the pricing. It is a totally separate complete installation.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the info. I know you don't work for Corel, but are you saying that if my 2018 on one computer purchases the "upgrade" it will offer me a download that I can save on a thumbdrive to insert on my new computer? Therefore I will have my 3 copies of 2018 on three old computers, plus one new copy of 2021 for the new machine?
That would be fantastic.

Edit: I just walked through the ad for upgrade. The upgrade process moves to a dropdown choice for Full or Upgrade. The Full costs more. Apparently in this case the upgrade cannot be installed on a new computer. Oh well.

Linda Lou,

As Kathy_9 stated, "upgrade" just means Pricing it's "Upgrade Price" or "Full price" that's what Full means. If you're upgrading you must have purchased and registered a previously licensed copy of PSP, which you have. So you qualify for the "Upgrade price". Think of it like a loyalty discount on the software. You are still buying the full version of the software (full EXE installer) and the EULA does not mention that the newly purchased software needs to be installed on the same computer as the previous version of PSP.

Users here have been installing their upgrade purchase on new computers forever. As well as alongside current installations of PSP because it's the full version of the software you're buying at an "upgrade price" and so it installs next to other copies of PSP not over them. You're not replacing a current installation or upgrading it, you're just installing another piece of software next to it.

I've read the EULA, and all of the support articles I can find. None of them, from what I saw, say you can't install the newest version bought on upgrade pricing on a new computer. If you're truly concerned and want direct confirmation, contact Corel Sales.
