PSP 2021 32-bit does not support .8bf filters

Post by dejudicibus »

I purchased PSP 2021 Ultimate and I use mostly the 32-bit version because I use a lot of filters that are not compatible with 64-bit version.
The problem is that I cannot run any .8bf filter with 32-bit version too! If I try, I get the following error message, whatever is the filter:

Unable to load the requested plug-in filter.
The plug-in may not be installed properly or may be missing files.
(Plug-in: Xxxxxxxx.8bf)

I verified all plug.in filters and the files are where they are expected to be. Installation of a plug-in filter is easy: you need just the file, since it is really a DLL.
It is necessary some DLL in System32 to convince PSP to run .8bf plug-in filters?

If you had the filters working in a previous version then all should be OK in your System 32 folder.
I have all the filters working in my PSP X9 version of PSP.
01PSPX9EffectsFilters.jpg
I then went to file locations File > Preferences > File Locations >Plugins and copied those link locations to an open wordpad document.
02PluginsLocationstoWordpad.jpg
Then I went to the same location (File > Preferences > File Locations >Plugins ) in PSP 2021 and copied the the link locations from wordpad to PSP 2021.
03Wordpadlocto2021Locations.jpg
This then shows all those Plugin Effects available in PSP 2021 . Most of them are in the Documents folder but one lot (C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X9\PlugIns\EN) will only stay so long as I do not uninstall PSP X9.

Have tested some (there are 100s there ) and they work correctly eg VM Natural Sparkle and the other Filters Unlimited 2.0 filters.
The only ones that do not work and give a Memory Access Violation are :
MuRa Pro > Seamless and all of the ones in
MuRa'a Meister (Cloud, Copies, Perspective Tiling, Pole Transform , Tone)
They still work in PSP X9 so must be a little difference in PSP 2021 to stop them working there.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

It is a known issue that some older plug-ins throw that error in PSP2021; even plug-ins that worked in PSP2020. This has been reported to Corel but it is unknown where it stands in terms of priority.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed
