i record lectures using 2 cameras and a seperate voice recorder for better audio
in videostudio i put main camera shot in "video" track of the timeline
then i put side camera shot in the "overlay" track of the timeline
then i sync them up by looking at the waveforms and matching them up
then i add voice recorder audio to the "voice" track of the timeline and match it up as above
then i begin editing and to cut out mistakes etc i cut out the bad part but then cut and paste about 5 sec of overlay track to video track
that way i finish my video and my question is: is this the most efficient way to edit or should i be using multi cam edit? any other tips?
thanks

I don't understand what you cut and paste.
let video 1 be your 2nd shot and the overlay your main "good" shot.
If all in sync, all you need is split and delete what is bad on the overlay this will revel video1
That simple.

Hi,
Your method works fine but it is precisely what the multicam mode is for. There is a provision to automatically sync the audio in this mode which I find is a huge time saver, especially if you have a lot of scenes.

You should use Multi Cam Editing
That will sync all tracks in one go
Allow you to chose the audio file as the source
Allow you to choose which video to use in the output file.
Allow you to delete sections of the recordings.
and can view the timelines showing the wave form.
I would create a new folder in the media library, add your 3 clips, select all three, right click for MCE
When complete a VSP is placed within the library, drag that to the vS timelines to complete / check the work
Double clicking the VSP within the library will open MCE allowing you to continue editing within MCE.

Re: how to efficiently edit 2 cameras and seperate audio track
what i meant by cut and paste was:
lets say i cut out 5 seconds of "mistake" from both video track, overlay, and voice track. then at that same point i "Swap" to overlay track for about 5 seconds then swap back to video track but i do this by cutting out that section in overlay track and replace video track for those 5 seconds, with that section. so when i finish my video the whole video from beginning to end is all on the video track and overlay track i switch off
maybe your method is more efficient?

Hi Dawad
MCE will allow you to select the camera angles you wish to use in the final production and place those on the top track, no need to manually cut or replace clips.
You simply click the mouse on the recording / camera angle you wish to use
All audio is also synced
