This is about Corel VS Ultimate 2020 to which I have just upgraded. The same issue occurs with X9.5.
I have a recorded video on another device. For reference, I am using an external HDMI > USB capture device, but that is not in iteslf a factor; the same thing occurs if I use the onboard webcam.
The recorded video is in 25/50hz ("PAL") full HD 1920x1080. And to avoid jerkiness, that is how I want to capture it. Either 50z or 25hz - full HD.
When I installed the Corel app, I chose PAL as my default TV system.
Select the capture tab. In the format options, I see only NTSC-based (60hz) values. Helpfully, the Corel app appears to give the option to add:
- Press the cog-wheel icon
- Press the Advanced button
- Press button "Add"
- Give it a name (PALHD25)
- Set up the resolution, frame rate and other options as desired
- Press OK
That should be it. But absolutely nothing happens. Settings are not saved; a new profile is not added, and I remain unable to capture at 25 (or 50) hz.
No difference if I run Corel as Administrator.
Any clues or suggestions? Help gratefully received.

Re: Add Capture Profile
Hi
And welcome to the forums
You say that you have recorded a video at 25fps x 1920 x 1080 if so then that video file will be saved to your hard drive or SD card on the camera. These video files can be imported to the timelines without going through the Capture process. For SD copy the files to the hard drive, then import to VS.
The capture process is generally used in real time to capture footage.
I do have a ezcap capture device which connects via USB however Video Studio only gives DVD quality options unfortunately its not a HD device.
The type of device connected to Video Studio determines what is available as a capture choice / settings, if you are seeing NTSC then I suspect your camera is recording or set to NTSC standards.
I have just connected my Pana GS 400 which gives DV and DVD Pal options.
So can you confirm what you are doing, are intending to capture on the fly or are you trying to capture an existing recorded video.
Because of the limitations of Video Studio capture, when I did use my USB ezcap device I used the software that came with the camera ( ArcSoft ShowBiz)

Re: Add Capture Profile
Thanks ... but
The recorded video was saved on a hard drive in an external machine and is otherwise lost; this is the only place I have it. Without going into excess details - the equipment will play it either in HD via HDMI, or in SD via analog, but it is otherwise not fully functional so that is ALL it will do. I cannot therefore extract it as a digital file. I have no wish to risk stripping the HDD out of the machine since - if it fails to reinstall properly, this and other irreplaceable content will be lost.
But really - the question is about how (if possible) to persuade Corel Capture to capture at 25 or 50hz (or, really anything other than an NTSC based frame frequency). The rest is really not material.

That I do not understand, where is the place you only have this videoHarpers Tate wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:09 pm Thanks ... but

The Capture process will not capture digital files it was designed to capture analogue or DV video that play in real time
These sources are encoded during capture / play.
If your source video is a digital video file on the camera SD card then the way to import to the pc is a simple matter of Copy and Paste.
With the digital video file on the pc we can drag and drop to the video studio timelines
or
Right clicking the timelines for Insert Video although the option Import Digital Media may help in browsing for the actual files.

Re: Add Capture Profile
I guess I'm not making myself clear.
The nature of the capture and its source aren't relevent. It makes no difference if I chose to capture from the onboard webcam. Or from an external USB webcam. What I am trying to get an answer to is: if I want the captured video to be at a PAL (25 or 50) frequency - how can I add a capture profile to do this? The point is - the process I describe above to add a profile has no effect. THAT is the (sole) problem I am trying to resolve.

Re: Add Capture Profile
Hi
As far as I am aware when we connect a device or camera to Video Studio the capture properties / settings are taken from the camera, where the device is Pal then 25fps 720 x 576 will be available and where the device is NTSC 720 x 480 x 29.97 fps will be used.
I cannot say if connecting a HD device at 1920 x 1080 will be available as a profile, maybe you can answer that.
I do not know of any way to change Ntsc to Pal, recent tests using VS X7 and VS2020 confirms that nothing much has changed over the years.
I have used my GS 400 cam that does show Pal profiles, then using my wifes old laptop which has a web shows NTSC profiles
I did believe there was an option to choose Project Settings rather than a Template, but that only seem to work if we set Project Properties to the correct appropriate Pal or Ntsc.
I do have a Ezcap device and when I find that I will have another go, but an sure that is a Pal capture device, using that I will not be able to change the profile to use Ntsc.
I can only assume that your devices are using NTSC standards.

Re: Add Capture Profile
It gets worse. I fed it an NTSC based source (60hz, 1080) from another laptop as a test. Just the Windows desktop. Played some music in the background on the laptop
You'll gather I'm new to capturing and I am learning as much as I can from experience.
I chose one of the two available profiles HD NTSC 1920x1080 and recorded a few seconds.
Realtime preview screen OK. This suggests that the signal is reaching the recording PC (and VS) intact.
Audio capture OK.
Video content: blocks and stripes of just two colours - pink and white. Totally unusable.
I tried the recording PC's onboard webcam.
Realtime preview OK.
Result: error message - file is corrupt and will be deleted (which it was).
