Just upgraded to 2020. Something is wrong with Music Samples?

Post by jungleexplorer »

Well, Corel finally sent me the annual $24 deal of VS 2020 and I upgraded. It was 6 GB download, which is a lot bigger than 2019, so I expected a lot of new sample content. I am trying to listen to the audio sample in the ScoreFetter Music folder, but they all sound like a defective robot that is short-circuiting. So I switched to the Triple Scoop folder and once I started to listen to one tract, I could not stop it and had to shut the program down to get the file to stop playing. I restarted VS and tried again and got the same result. I am not encouraged by this. It seems like Corel has once again released a defective product. At least I only paid $24 for it.

Completely agree with you about the ScoreFitter music, just not functional at all, as you say some tracks just screech, whilst others have no sound at all.
Don't have any trouble with Triple Scoop though, can start, stop tracks as required
Auto Music appears to be functioning correctly

On the Win 7 desktop, ScoreFitter music functions correctly

Hi
I have to say Score Fitter and Triple Scoop Music is something I rarely use and only go there to test.
Selected Score Fitter then selected the first clip Ambient Drama
Program froze Not Responding, Task Manager to close
Repeat and this time no crash but Ambient Drama did not play
These samples are part of Auto Music so I accessed that to add a sample to timelines and this works ok, or appears to do.
Close Auto Music, Now I drag Ambient Drama thumbnail to timelines, (30 sec clip) which appears to play ok, tried several clips and all play.

So like Robert playing from the library seems to be the problem, for me play from the library thumbnails has no sound?
Certainly there is a problem here but they do seem to play from the timelines and when using Auto Music

Triple Scoop Music
Those played from the library, “ this is a preview file…….
Once play had started which I did from the thumbnail, to stop playback I had to use the programs Play / Pause
Then I noticed the thumbnail play symbol never changed to a Pause symbol, clicking the thumbnail away from the play symbol did pause play as did selecting another sample
I don’t see to much of a problem here

Hey Lata. I don't use them that much either, I just was trying to listen to them. I don't understand the Triple Scoop stuff. You have to buy the tracts, so they are not true samples, but just another form of bloatware. I get most of my music from YouTube's Free Audio Library, because I mainly produce YouTube videos. I also have access to over 250,000 music tracts the AudioHero.com with my TubeBuddy Pro subscription. But sometimes for a simple quick project for friends and family, I just like having some local stuff for quick access, without having to go look for it online.

Thanks for the workaround on the Scorefetter tracts. Maybe Corel will fix the issue with the preview. ROFL!!!!!!! I will hold my breath. 😰😵⚰️

And don't forget we have one of our own users Eric Matyas who has compiled a huge collection of music on this Board at https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=327957#p327957

If I may pop in, just for fun I did some looking into the files/directories of Corel and it seems the Scorefitter playback is generated adhoc by a renderer within the program that 'edits/fits' the song length based on how long your clip is (eg. Music Track > Scorefitter clip [sized to how long you want the music to be]) - I found in the area the source files are kept, they are actually MIDI files ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI , they were located at
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2020\ScoreFitter\Scorefitter Content\Songs
note that unless your media player has a built-in codec to play the .MID files it may not be able to playback the files as they are not audio per se they are 'tracks and events' files that play back another source of audio (eg. wave files or soundfont files) that have pre-recorded short samples of some type. Midi files can be thought of more like sequencer source events 'that tell a sample when to play')
and so perhaps that is why they cannot be played via the Preview aspect of the program - but dragging them down into the Tracks area and choosing a length (I tested 15s then 10s, etc) they seem to operate 'properly', self-editing and compiling a song based on your chosen length. Although it is not always exact to the second, it seems to do pretty well at "making an ending" for example, of various lengths of time, as a little 'song'.

In the Preview area, clicking PLAY, I had the same outcome as JungleExplorer ['sounded garbled, like robot static awkwardness, not-working sounds'] but then pulled some down to the Tracks area and resized to some lengths (eg. 10s, 5s, etc) and then it played out a little ditty around the exact length of time I chose (and didn't sound too bad, other than it was 'generic midi' sounding).
IF they aren't playing properly even there, perhaps reinstalling and/or removing other codec packs and reinstalling VS or other steps might be needed. I'm sorry I did not run into your exact issue. In fact, the Triple Scoop samples played just fine in the Preview area for me (with the "THIS IS A PREVIEW FILE..." heh).

Hopefully that is what was needed / what was wrong with it, maybe it will work for you then. GL with it
~Troy

I see that lata actually said close to some of what I said above, sorry; I skimmed the other posts and did not read them fully

Thanks Lata and Troy. That is helpful. At least now I can see what these files are and see if they have any use to me.

Hi Troy
The songs you mention are the original installation samples used by Auto Music
When we add a song to the timeline either drag from library or using Auto Music a Wav file is created for the length of that clip and saved here:-
may have to play the file for the wav to be rendered.
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\22.0\ScoreFitter

If we now increase the duration of the clip on the timeline another version is saved, another wav.
Tweaking the duration a couple of times will create yet another file.
