It doesn't seem like you have made much headway in improving the space available in C. Leaving it essentially full will really impact the performance of your system, as the paging file takes time and memory to work thru it's storage choices. As a rule of thumb, try to ensure your available space on any drive is not less than 25% - choose the drive, rt click, choose properties, and windows will give a little graphic of how much si used and how much is free. You seem like you have already found that out.

So find what is taking all the space and do something to either remove it, or move it to your D drive.

Trevor posted about using the Tree Size utility. It's free. Downloaded and installed, set it to always run as administrator, and it will give you a picture of what your C drive looks like (assuming you choose to scan C): what is taking all the space. Attached is mine, and I've highlighted where the restore files I previously mentioned live in the system volume information folders.

Don't delete anything using Tree - it's benefit is telling what is there. Use the windows tools for any removals you want to make.

Thanks for the great tip on TreeSize Free - it's been a revelation. I've discovered a hidden folder used by Vortex, a mod manager I use for games and found over 100GB of zipped files! I've already freed up 30GB+ of mods no longer in use and will ask on the Vortex forum if it's ok to delete the rest.

I've followed the advice above removing VS Content and relocated the Working Folder (with Smart Proxy) to D, freeing up another 6GB of space. A quick check seems to show not problems.

Thanks for all the detailed help and information you've given me, you do a great job!

------------------------------

Can I ask one more very minor question? Why is it that when I boot up VS, it shows the same old unrelated media in the library panel that needs deleting? Also when I load a project, it doesn't load the media thumbnails too? Not wildly important problems, just something that bugs me!

Your Media Files, at least quite a lot of them were saved to the Corel VideoStudio Content folder
The first description I gave in my previous post.
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=397418#p397418
If you reset the library it will remove all the clips that need re-linking, but also remove your library folders, as such it is easier to delete the clips from the library.

Not sure I understand the reference to your project and doesn't load Media thumbnails? …….When you open one of your projects do you get a relink request from your clips, if so then you have removed those files from their original location.

Clips in the library . . ah.
For video clips, rendering or using clips often puts them in the library, where you can use them with drag n drop methods. Once they are in the library, those clip thumbnails stay there. There's a small film icon in the thumbnail which shows whether the clip is found or not found by VS. If found, the icon is black n white, and a rt-click on it choosing properties will tell you where it is. If not found - eg, you have deleted the related file or moved it somewhere else since the thumbnail was created - the icon is yellow, and a rt-click on the thumbnail gets you a re-link window.
If you have deleted or re-located the file by separate action, you can either delete the thumbnail (rt-click, in the re-link panel, choose delete), or re-link the thumbnail to the new location of the file.
To avoid the library getting too large, you may have to clean it up by removing unwanted thumbnails for your own work regularly. I try to keep the library to just what VS has for me to use, and clean up any of my stuff that's in it on a frequent basis.
