AI HDR Studio in PSP 2021 Ultimate

I have the AI HDR Studio plugin loaded in PSP 2021 ultimate, but when I try to use it on a TIFF , I get the reply "The color code of this image cannot be used in AI HDR Studio. To use this image, convert it to 8-bit per channel RGB color."

Where do I go from here? I'm shocked that images normally processed by PSP 2021 cannot be edited with AI HDR Studio.
