Audio click and pop VS 2020 Ultimate

Post by revmatthew »

Hi:
I've tried to find this issue resolved in other posts - no luck yet. There was one from 2015 but that is too many versions back.
I Have VS2020 Ultimate. When I import a music track - MP3 or WAV or... the VS program plays it but produces pops and click that are not there on the original audio file.
I've tried reformatting the audio into several formats to no avail. Its only 2:09 long.
The issued comes a few seconds in, is random and leaves before the last 30 seconds of the audio.
Oh, and when I play with it too much, VS does its old trick of closing by itself....sigh.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

FWIW I just rendered a project yesterday which contained a musical background prepared in Sonic Fire Pro 6.5 (a SmartSound product using my extensive collection of SmartSound CDs). The music is exported from SonicFire in WAV format. I added the .wav direct to the music track in VS 2020, and it played and rendered perfectly -- not a pop or crackle to be heard. As the project was a short one, I also used Audacity to convert the .wav to an mp3 and substituted that in the music track of VS 2020. Again no pop or crackle.

I might add that the video itself had audio, but I never varied the level of the background music. That might be a possible explanation for the lack of pops and crackles, since other people have adjusted the levels of music to allow for video track audio to be heard, and this has produced pops/crackles...

Sounds plausible. In this 2:10 video I silenced all the audio present in the video clips as they accompanied a choir. In the end, I removed everything, and put the music in after the videos were edited together. In that instance, the MP3, or the WAV were both just fine. I suspect in after thought, that something got corrupted. Thanks for the reply.
