Hi,
I purchased some transition effects. They include two mov files, the transition itself with alpha channel and a matte. The screenshots are attached below. Can somebody advice how to use them. I tried quite a lot but could not figure out.
How to use alpha channel transitions with mattes?

No I haven't. Does VS use QT somehow or do you mean that the transition should be created outside VS, using QT, and then imported? I would prefer doing everything inside VS, without a need for any other software.
I thought this matte could be used with the help of some blending modes. But whatever I tried, I could not achieve the exact effect where the moving rose petals would sweep the boundary between the two clips.

How do you want to fully use mov file without QT?
I can't guaranty it will work but it's a starting point.
* You can always try to key the black instead using the alpha.

I just add the mov files to the timeline and VS accepts them

Just a note . .
the comments about QT refer to the codecs, not the player itself: the player has a security issue, but the codecs don't. There is a tutorial on how to install just the QT codecs on the Corel tutorials site, and it includes a demo of the effect when the QT codecs are absent.
