Install screen

Post by Morph416 »

I had this problem with I first installed PSP 2020. Then, 2021.. but for the life of me, can't remember what the fix was.

But.. here we are again, while trying to update to Patch 1. Do they not know what's causing this? This is an "in your face" problem.. not a crash from rarely used code.

Any thoughts?

But what exactly is the problem? You don't actually say -- just post an image showing that screen from the installation process. What happens? Does it just sit there, frozen? Or do you then get some error message? Or does the message screen stay that size blocking out whatever you need to press to move on? What happens when you click, say, Ctrl+Enter?

That screen above, is all I get.

Launching the application, you can see it extract all the files to the system temp directory. Then, after a few seconds.. this screen should launch. (forgive me, it's small because Youtube was the only place I could find a decent screen of the program installing.

I don't get this screen, I get the one above. I can tab thru it, select the small check box with the space bar, but that's it. Only the X in the upper right hand corner works. Like I mentioned, I can't remember how I got around it the last time, but I can't install the update.. nor can I uninstall PSP because I get this exact same issue. Unless I use their removal tool.

Have you tried:

Right click desktop> display settings> change size of text, apps and other items.
"Display resolution" may also effect this (in same location)

I have tried other resolutions, yes. Even tried that in Compatibility settings.

I did find a work around.

Since I have my primary Admin acct available, I logged off mine, logged into that one, and had no issues installing the update.
(primary, as in you need to activate it via the CMD prompt - my primary profile is also admin level)

So, I've concluded, that after all these years.. my primary profile has some corrupt settings somewhere when it comes to Corel.

C'est la vie. I have far too much invested in this profile already, and even the best cleaning tools leave broken remnants and shattered pieces.. so, until I decide to wipe the primary drive and start fresh, I can always use this work around.

I do appreciate your replies and time you took to help out.

The 2 accounts maybe using different graphics processors

On NVIDIA:
Right Click desktop> nvidia control panel> program settings> Add> Corel psp [version number] > Change Processor in section 2

I'm not sure where it is on AMD

I only have one GPU.

In the Nvidia CP, there's only one option for Corel...as both the Global and Use Only are the same GPU.

More often than not, when it comes down to a profile issue.. there isn't much to do about it. You can't reset it using default options, without losing program information.

It doesn't take much for me to log into the main Admin acct, so long as I remember that was what worked.

Thanks for the reply.. and the tip.
