Is there a way to export an image with motion to it's own VSP?

Post by HenryBuck »

Hey everyone,

There are some elements in a video that I want to use as a template for an image with motion (for example - headers or introduction graphic per change of theme on the video ). I would be easier for me to have the frames and space to create them outside of the main VSP and then bring them in as clips(MP4s).
Is there a way to export an image with motion to it's own VSP? And as a bonus, hopefully keep the dimensions. If it;'s a graphic that scales out of the video, I would like to be able to incorporate that within the man video's dimensions.

Thanks again you masters of video!

Yes, there is.
Open the project file you want to use containing the images/motion in the Edit TL
Select Share mode - the vsp visuals should appear in the preview window
Choose 'same as project settings' in the computer file output option
Select (tick) the 'create preview range only' option box
Adjust the orange trimming handles (Left and Right) under the preview window to contain only the image and motion you want
Insert the filename and file location for the output
click START
and your image with motion should be rendered as a clip with the same properties as the project file.
You can import that as a clip in any other project want to.

Thank you Davidk!
Now I can use that clip for other files but I suppose I was wanting to know if I could save that "part as a vsp" so that I can use it as a "template" so to speak and just change the color or text when I needed to.

Just the same, I am very grateful for teaching me how to import snip-its.

Sounds like custom titles might do part of the job. I use make them and reuse them with minor changes, such as colors or text, etc.

Thanks gewb. I'll look into that. Meanwhile I was trying al sorts of things and remembered that I can drag a VSP into a timelime, but is there a way to export ( Share ) a partr of the video as a VSP?
Thank again everyone.

Just be aware that a .vsp file is NOT a video. It does NOT contain video. It is a short text file which tells VS what video is in the project, where it is stored and what has been done to it. So you can't talk about creating a .vsp through Share. You create it by going to File > Save or Save As. But to save just the bit you want you would need to clear the timeline of the rest of the project, leaving just the bit you want to retain. Then File > Save that as a new vsp. After you close it, you can still reopen the original vsp with everything still in it.

Thank you Ken! That's what I had been doing and was wondering if there was a way that was more efficient which I was unaware of.
Thank you everyone once again. You folks are so awesome.

Hi
Where you have animated a single clip, Image, maybe it flies in and spins
We can drag that image to the library, this creates a copy
Now we can use that clip with the animation in any project.

If I were to build a short intro using a few clips we can Export the effect as a Template
File - Export as Template, that arrangement will be saved to the library Instant Projects aka Templates library.
We can choose a save location for the template however this folder could be used.
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate
