Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2020 Crashed when rendering a project
I have Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2020.
Corel is crashing even before I render anything, crashes when I start to play a video clip from a Zoom video.
Zoom is mp4 but the resolution is 640 x 360 however the size is only 37,368 KB.
Other Zoom videos at 54,508 KB, 1280 x 720 also lock up Corel.
I have to end up going into Task Manager to shut the program down because nothing responds once it locks up.
I have Pinnacle Studio 24 Ultimate as well and it does the same thing.
Since both programs are made by Corel and are both doing the same thing, what do I need to do to solve the problem ?
I have no problem playing the files on VLC media player or on Windows media player.
I need an answer, I paid money for these and I need them to work.

yes, I completely understand. we also had an important project, and at the most inopportune moment Video Studio Ultimate 2020 crashes. i think The crash suggests there is something there that VS does not likeMirandaJO98 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 11:46 am Same thing happened during my employee monitoring software video-presentation on monday. Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2020 Crashed when rendering a project
The size of the file should not matter, but the clip properties certainly do. For a start, mp4 is a defined format structure; a container for a lot of variations that specific vendors create to optimise their products. Most work, and most are stock-standard. But some aren't yet are still called mp4: some are unique enough that editor software may not support them. So, for the clips that are causing a crash, some suggestions:
- do those clips play in the free VLC player?
- do they import to VS correctly without errors?
- what are the clip properties? a) once in VS, select the clip, rt-click and choose properties, and screenshot the properties panel: save as a jpg image. OR b) open windows explorer, locate the clip, rt-click on it and select properties, choose the details tab and screenshot the video/audio data, save as a jpg image.
Post the screenshot images here for comment.

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2020 Crashed when rendering a project
That's been an issue for years. Prior to 2019 - no real identification about how it was done, and CUDA support was sadly poor to non-existent if you were using a graphics adapter. In 2019 Corel made an attempt to improve that hardware accel performance, 2 options (Intel and Nvidia) for 2019 and 2020, plus AMD added for 2021. But the overall results as reported in this forum don't seem to have improved much.
In my case, I use 2 editors on a desktop: both render OK when accel is OFF, and return error messages when it is ON. Trying to work out whether the video cpu on the Intel chip is the issue, the graphics driver has a bug or is being incorrectly used by the software. But sadly, hardware OFF is the condition that works. Ameliorate the 'longer" render times that gives by simply making your projects smaller, so it just doesn't show.
