I am not sure if this is possible but I thought I would ask. I am working on a Lower Thirds "Subscribe Now" ad that I am going to be adding to all of my Youtube videos for the foreseeable future. The ad is made up of several track overlays. Because the ad must be transparent, and VS only allows the rendering of a single tract to the Alpha channel, there is no way to render the ad to a file. There are too many colors in the ad to use Chroma Keying. So what I would like is to save the ad as a project, and then just import the project into a video project where I want the ad to appear.
Is this possible in VS? I open to suggestions on how to accomplish this. Here is a sample of the ad I am talking about.

Re: How to use a project within a project?
Hi
A process known as “nesting”
Save the project and close
Then import the VSP to the Media Library, I would create a new library folder for this file.
Drag the VSP to the timelines which will open showing all clips, however If you hold Shift and then drop it will be placed on the track as a single clip. (Flattened)
I don’t know what effect this will have on your transparencies, but worth a try

Re: How to use a project within a project?
Thanks for the help. It doesn't work, but it was a good try. Dragging it onto the timeline disassembles the sequencing and put part of the video at the beginning of the main tract. I then have to reassemble and re-sequence everything at the time I want. It would be easier to just drag and drop the parts from the library. Pressing the SHIFT combines them all, but as you said, it loses transparency. I may have to find a different editor where I can combine all the elements into a single file with a transparent background. Any ideas on a program that might be able to do this? I guess it would be called something like "Multi-track Alpha Channel Rendering" or something like that.lata wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 6:36 pm Hi

I never realized how hard it was to work with transparent backgrounds in video before this.

Yes. But this option only allows you to save a single overlay (channel). If you have abjects in several overlays, it can only save one of them. Say you have an animation in one overlay and a Title sequence in another. There is no way to combine the two overlays into one using the Mov Alpha render function.

Re: How to use a project within a project?
Hi
I did have trouble using a Title on the title track, but when i moved the title to an overlay track i was able to render OK
I used the samples from the Overlay library ( formally Graphics Library)
Overlay 1 I added a title
Overlay 2 added an arrow.png
1nd overlay 3 added a heart.png
Applied Customise motion to the two images
All rendered ok with a transparent background
I do not know what happens if i were to use a Jpeg with Chroma key applied?
