Boris FX, Templates Folder

Not sure if this has already been reported but as soon as I try to open the Boris FX folder, the program freezes and it is necessary to use task manager to kill the process
VS 2020 Build 23.3.0.646 installed on Win 10 platform

Using the FX Boris templates drop to the timeline without problems for me
Usually populating the overlay track unless i hold Shift then it drops to the top track

Just in case its associated with the project properties, I first set those as the Sample Lake.mp4

Tried using the Sample Lake.mp4 Program freezes as soon as I click on a template
Could be a coincidence, but yesterday Windows updated to Win 10 2004

As far as I know the Boris FX is part of BCC Title Studio
Do you have any problems using FX BCC

You could try re-installing the Bonus Features package
Download files \64bit\BonusFeature -- setup_Bonus.exe
You may be best first uninstalling the Boris FX Continuum 2020 plugin for Corel….

BCC Title Studio appears to be working correctly, but will try reinstalling the Bonus Features

Like Trevor, I have no problem with Boris in FX. I have to add, though, that it usually takes a few seconds to become active so that I can drag and drop it onto the clip in the timeline. And once there, it takes another couple of seconds to allow me to customize it. I guess you could call this a 'freeze'. But no crashes. I've learned just to be a bit patient.

FWIW, also like Trevor, my computer was upgraded to Win 10 2004 a couple of months ago with no problems encountered so far.

Uninstalled Boris FX Continuum 2020 plugin, then reinstalled, Boris now functional in Template folder, however, only have 8 templates, previously had about 20, cant remember where the others came from

Spoke too soon, still completely locking up as soon as a filter is clicked on, task manager then needed to close VS

Uninstalled again, reinstalled, still freezes, so Boris FX not usable

I'm also now a little confused about which Boris you are talking about. You refer to Boris FX so I look in the FX area to the right of the preview screen, see Boris and drag and drop it on the timeline. It contains hundreds of entries, though not what I would necessarily call templates because this is Boris Title Studio.

When I look further up the sections to the right of the preview screen, then third down in Templates I find Boris FX as one of the sub-folders. Opening that in fact gives me 48 templates, not 8 or 20. I haven't done anything with the installation of this folder since I have never used it before. But now, thinking that this is the folder you are talking about, I chose a couple at random and dragged and dropped them (separately) into the timeline where they set up their elements and moved the video which was already there to the right. After that they played smoothly, and there were no freezes or crashes. So still no problems either way.

I see 38 templates in the Templates, formally Instant Projects Library, Boris FX
All templates appear to be saved in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\23.0\VSPTemplate
Note this is a different folder to the ones used by earlier programs.
I have 39 showing in that folder ( one called Scary Files does not show in the library)
Dont know why Ken and I have a different amount?

If you still have those folders then doing a reset, renaming the 23.0 folder may repopulate the templates.

Now this is weird, changed the 23.0 folder to 23.0old, then launched VS2020, a new 23.0 folder has not been created, still only have 23.0.old folder, so how has the library managed to recreate itself

You have the wrong folder, try this one

I have uninstalled Boris FX Continuum 2020, that removed Boris FX and all template folders in Corel VideoStudio Pro\23.0\VSPTemplate
Re installed the bonus Features, Boris FX back in library with 8 templates
The folder shows 10 templates, I think 2 are corrupt, no reason why they do not show in the library.

Viewing 2019 and the BCC is corrupt with cannot load library error
Re-installed 2019 Bonus Features, 2019 back working ok

That uninstalled Boris FX Continuum 2020, certainly should not have done that.
Re-install 2020 Bonus Features again

Eureka, I now have a full compliment of Boris FX in the 2020 Templates library 38 in all.
I assume that to be the full list, although do not list in alphabetical order A/Z in name order fixed that.
I do have 39 templates in the Corel VideoStudio Pro\23.0\VSPTemplate --- Scary Files seems to be missing
Back to 2019 and BCC is still working ok.

To sum up
I had to install Boris FX Continuum 2019 then install Boris FX Continuum 2020 and that seems to fix things.
The only corrupt file I had was BCC from 2019 (FX Filter)
I can only suggest you uninstall both 2019 and 2020 Continuum’s the install 2019 first followed by 2020
And if that does not work then a full install of the programs 2019 first.

Thanks for that Trevor, will do a complete reinstall of VS tomorrow, have not previously installed VS2019 on the laptop

Just noticed that I have the same issue on the Win 7 desktop, whilst at least this shows 40 templates, like the laptop, clicking on any filter freezes VS. So how is that possible, 2 computers, different OS, same problems
