So this is a new one. I was working on a new video and ran into a strange thing that makes no sense to me. I record my audio on a studio mic, and sync the audio up in the editor by turning on the Sound Mixer tool so I can see where to line up the audio tracks. I then mute the track on the video and leave just the audio from the studio mic. I have never had trouble doing this before today. Today the audio is out of sync on the voice track.
How do I explain this? I can see the waveform but when playing back the audio from the Voice Track, the actual audio starts at a different place than what is showing in the waveform. The audio track on the video is in sync. It is only the audio on the recorded track that does not line up. It is really confusing.

Have you changed anything, maybe a different video recording
I assume the video file is in sync?
Have you tried Multi Cam Editor to sync the two files, although I do not see why that should be different if the wave forms are identical.
But worth a try.

Re: Audio not lining up with wave form in editor?
I am not sure you have the right idea of what is going on. For the moment, forget a video tract exist. The only tract is the audio tract. You turn on the Sound Mixer tool and you see the waveform appear on the audio tract. You press play and you see the progress bar going forward towards the beginning of the audio tract. It reachs the visible beginning of the waveform where you can see that sound has been recorded but nothing happens. There is no audio that can be heard. The progress bar continues and after a few seconds you hear the audio start, but the audio you are hearing is not following what you see manifested in the waveform on the audio tract, it is the audio from the beginning of the tract that you should have been hearing several seconds earlier. There is nothing to move, adjust, or sync because we are talking about a single tract of audio.
Hopefully this makes some sense to you. I don't understand how this is happening. The waveform is supposed to be a representation of where the audio is in a tract. How can the audio be out of sync within itself? It makes no sense at all.

Thanks for the additional info, I understand now, although don't understand why that should happen.
Did you record the audio using different settings as to earlier recordings that worked ok
Are your project properties different to earlier projects
Are you able to provide the audio file so we can test on our machines?

Re: Audio not lining up with wave form in editor?
Okay. I don't know what was causing it, but I fixed it by audio rendering the file in VS to a WAV and reimporting back into the video tract. It was rather long audio recording and it seems that the wavefor became more out of sync with the actually audio towards the end. So I just cliped the end part and render it and now the audio is in sync.
Never had this problem before. Wierd glitch.

Re: Audio not lining up with wave form in editor?
Talked with an audio professional I know and he says the problem was a result of corruption on the original audio file. No way to know what caused it. Just another computer mystery.
