Hi,
I am trying to keep the Widescreen aspect ratio but I am unable to do so... if i choose 16:9 aspect ratio, I have the black boxes on both the top and bottom but unfortunetaly I also end up with black boxes on both the right and left hand side of the video thus i end up with basically a square video size in the middle of the screen... and 4 :3 stretches the video...anyone know if it actually is possible to keep the widescreen aspect ratio when using MF4 ? if not, anyone have any solution on how to incorporate a widescreen aspect ratio into MF 4 ? thanks for any help.
How do I keep Widescreen aspect ratio in MF4?

I've made 16:9 DVD's
Once you've loaded the video file, click the little "cog" icon at the bottom of the MF screen, set the ratio to 16:9, that should do it. Save the project and carry on.
If not, right click on the small version of the video, underneath the main preview window, and select "reset enhanced video" (or something like that).
If you right click on the preview window you can select to view 16:9 lines so you know your video is correctly proportioned.
I also found some of my widescreen vids were slipping into 4:3, but using the above I got it sorted.

I've got a simliar problem. A 1hour 22minute movie in 16:9 on DV tape. I've set MF4 to 16:9. Capture from directly from the tape produces 4:3 pictures. Importing 16:9 AVI or MOV files rendered/exported in Premiere 6LE or in Cinestream (still my favourite) does the same, MF4 thinks they're 4:3.fbis1 wrote:thanks you both for your replies! it works now !
If I right click on a file in MF4 "add media", I can bring up the clip properties. For files captured directly in MF4, it says they're 4:3 (the same tape, when captured in Sony DV Gate Motion tells me that each frame is 16:9, but files captured that way are misread as 4:3 by MF4). For imported files rendered/exported in Cinestream as 16:9, it correctly says that they're 16:9 but still shows them as 4:3 in the main window. I can't see any way to change those settings, this right click only brings up information, I can't see any way to change it.
I've been doing battle with this for several weeks now, and can't see any way to get MF4 to make a 16:9 disk with 16:9 pictures. The menus are nice and wide, as are the pictures in the menus, but the main programme steadfastly stays 4:3.
Any ideas?
