Videostudio pro 2020 is not asking about matching properties
VS Pro is not asking me, if I want to match the Project Properties to those of the video, even though in the preferences. I have it clicked that I want to be notified about it. So now how would I do that manually since that isn't working in VS.

Well I just found out that it does when you drag the clip to the timeline, however, even though I selected yes, it didn't make any difference anyway. It's still just as choppy. I can't even work on my video now. It's impossible.

This is your third post today about the same problem, yet you have started three separate threads on it. As I just said in another of your posts you need to give us a lot more information on the properties of the video you are using and what you want to produce, and tell us what editing you have done, filters applies etc.

Hi David. Maybe it's just me but when I clicked your link, it just brought me to a different thread of mine but I didn't see any posts from you there.

No, it's not just you. My reply to that topic seems to have gone missing - I'd hoped that had ended when the new version of the forum was published some weeks back. So I've added a brief summary of my prior effort to that topic about editing jerky video.
And this topic is related. If you have the 'show message' box in the general tab of preferences ticked, then no message means:
- the properties of your project match those of the clip being imported for the 1st time; or
- the import isn't the first time a clip has been imported to your project: you only get that message the first time it happens and the properties of the imported clip don't match those of your project.

Hi David. I get that now. It's weird that your post would not show up. Anyway I get what your saying. I do have the 'show message' box ticked, but I thought it meant that I would receive the message every time. Oh also, I realized that the clip has to be pulled to the timeline to see the message anyway. I don't use VS very often but now my art followers are asking me more and more to make tutorial videos, so now the pressure is on. lol. Thanks for the help!

Re: Videostudio pro 2020 is not asking about matching properties
One of the reasons it would not come up is precisely because of the variable framerate. As I should have said in the other thread, Video Studio is not comfortable with variable framerates. It prefers -- even insists on -- standard framerates like 29.97/30 fps. So when presented with a variable framerate video, it doesn't see a standard video and will not ask if you want to project properties to match.
Just to be even more precise, variable framerates are variable! Just because one of your clips is 29.882 fps doesn't mean all the others you took around that time will have that same framerate. Some are likely to be lower, and some a bit higher, some probablyeven more than the standard 29.97 fps. So that is why VS cannot use a variable rate as part of project properties since the other rates will all be different for the different clips.

Re: Videostudio pro 2020 is not asking about matching properties
.... if using variable frame rate footage, it needs to be converted to constant frame rate by using something like HANDBRAKE which is free, and usually works quite well in making variable frame rate footage into constant frame rate footage.
Then there is the computing hardware you have.....

Re: Videostudio pro 2020 is not asking about matching properties
In my case, I don't ask questions when the properties specified in the default settings are the same.
If it is different from the specified attribute, ask. I think this is normal.
