When I create an mp4 video, the sound quality is bad.
The MP4 export settings for sound are 48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo.
Of course that info is incorrect, or at the most incomplete, because an mp4 file contains a compressed audio stream.
It sounds like a too high audio compression is used and I see no options to change the compression settings for the audio stream.
Any suggestions?

Start at the beginning? Post a shot of the properties of the original video clip you are using (select clip, rt-click, and in the context menu scroll to properties at the bottom, click on it. When the properties panel appears, press prnt-scrn key - which puts the image into the clipboard - then paste into paint, save as a jpg file, and attach to a reply here)

Note:-
pressing Alt+ Print Screen will copy the active panel, so no need to crop before saving.

Re: MP4 Sound quality not good
Okay, so here's a screenshot from the clip properties:
When I listen to the original, it sounds great. But after rendering, the end result sounds not-so-great. There I can hear the effect of too much audio compression.

Re: MP4 Sound quality not good
I have also made a comparison between 3 end results.
1. MP4 in VideoStudio 2020
2. MP4 in Sony vegas v.14
3. WMV in VideoStudio 2020
When looking at the audio properties, you see that the MP4 in VideoStudio and Vegas are the same.
But the sound in SoundStudio is distorded and in Vegas not. So there must be happening something before rendering. (Maybe a too highly compressed temp file?)
The WMV in VideoStudio is also good.

Re: MP4 Sound quality not good
Hi
Those properties look reasonable to me as HD MP4 video. Although Bit Rate 245kbps may not be achievable using VS, I would expect 256
If you think Video Studio is not reading correctly you can use a program called MediaInfo
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
This tool will give you much more info, tree view works quite well.
From Video Studio, when you choose Share what choices do you make…...
At the top left is an option to for Same as Project Settings, tick the box then change that to Same as First Clip (if that option is available)
The resultant file should be identical to your original.
If you still have problems, repeat the above, but deselect Enable Smart Render – then hit Start, does that improve things.

Hi
Sorry missed your last reply
I assume the reference to SoundStudio is a typo for Video Studio.
The video studio properties look a little strange if you have selected a default MP4 template, I would expect it to use 15000kbps not 7855kbps
Your original being 19741kbps should be used for your render setting ( 20000kbps) to retain the original video quality.)
