Hmmmm......thanks for the info
The first image with the message “Custom Profiles could be cleaned. Do you want to continue”
I have never seen that message before, ever.
I doubt it will do any harm to accept that.
However you live in Australia, Pal land using 25fps, as such the program should ideally be installed to Pal 25fps as the default settings.
Your image showing Project Properties indicate the program being installed to NTSC 29.97 fps
Your MTS video files are using 25fps.
Go to Settings – Preferences – General tab
At the bottom of that list is TV System, that option should be Pal, you will have to restart VS to apply this change.
Now when you go to Alt+Enter / project properties will show for Pal 25fps as my attached image
Setting your Project Properties to Pal is correct when using MTS Pal video
Now complete your project followed by rendering/share to AVCHD 1920 x 1080.
You have 3 options,
1 / Same as Project Settings, Do you normally use this option?
2 / Same as First Clip, providing the first video clip is one of your MTS video files,
3 / use the AVC/H.264 profile --- AVC (1920 x 1080, 50i, 20Mbps)
My preference would be option 2 Same as First Clip
Once rendered you can play the video to check quality.
The file is a Compliant Bluray video able to be burnt to BD disc without further conversion.
If you wish to burn a DVD then convert this file or indeed your project to Mpeg2
You now have a Mpeg2 DVD compliant video file capable of burning the disc without further conversion.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Trevor, Thanks for following up on my progress.
I have been through the first process now showing PAL & as per my previous post question "Modifying project settings clear cache etc"
Do you want to continue ??? OK or Cancel which is correct ?
Will then move on to your next steps.

Melda again.... I do usually use - Same as Project Settings that you enquired about. First clips are actually title & still photos so assume using Project Settings best.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Hi Melda
Yes to modifying project settings to clear cache, you now appear to be working with Pal settings, thats good
Share – same as first video clip
Quite specific is referring to videos and not images.
Check this out, with your project open, go to Share and choose – same as first clip
The settings used will show in the properties panel and should be same as your video.
Change to same as project, probably the only main change will be the data rate, your video using 16999kbps
Ideally the two should be the same, when you start a new project the show messages will match the properties for you, are you aware of the Show Messages options?

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Irishrose -- regarding Iso files
When burning a DVD modifying your workflow to create the Iso has its benefits.
First the Iso contains the same video files as the disc.
1 / we can play the iso to check quality before burning discs, this sometimes avoiding creating those coasters.
2 / we can burn another disc at any time without the need to use the project, no additional rendering.
3 / is probably the best way to archive our disc files, an exact copy of the disc on our hard drives.
4 / as reported by Corel Support avoids the Burner Busy issue
5 / creating an ISO is easy, just a matter of ticking the option, instead of “create disc” choose “create disc Image ”
6 / you could share the iso with friends for them to play on pc
If you need further help with the burner process including a Iso just let me know
Oh
Iso for avchd, i would have to check / test that process although should be same as for dvd

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Hello Trevor,
Anyone having the 'Burner is Busy' issue should follow your suggestion. Using the "create image file" for an ISO is the way to go. After that it is a simple matter.
I followed your process and successfully created a viewable disc.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
For an AVCHD disc, you can burn it with a standard DVD burner, but it has the same structure as a Blu-Ray disc and can only be played on a Blu-Ray player. Very good quality though...lata wrote:Iso for avchd, i would have to check / test that process although should be same as for dvd

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Hi Trevor,
You asked if I know of Show Messages options at start up - No, don't thin so - is it a setting I need to activate ?
Have pedantically followed your instructions & have achieved a very clear project & viewed on PC but have a create disc problem ??.
STEPS: PAL AVCHD 1920x1080
Accepted Modify box
Share same project settings
Rendered ok & viewed PC - clear & amazing.
Now your comment "File Compliant Bluray video able burn BD without further conversion"
Went in to top LH corner settings -Burn disc Bluray option
Bluray disc in external Bluray burner - acknowledged disc then the dreaded messages -Target Device some Problems - turned off system rebooted Same next try & then dreaded Burner is busy.
Question - what steps have I missed. Do I need to create to ISO for this Bluray then on to disc to avoid burner ?.
Hope something simple I'm missing - was happy to have achieved so far then - whoops - problem !
Not tried DVD MPEG2 make disc yet.
Hoping to achieve before weekend as I have to fly interstate to family & will be away 2 weeks. Want to forget about Project creations for a while.
Have read Irishrose info given to her in case a clue in there for me other than "ISO for AVCHD" ?
Always helpful is very much appreciated by me.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
First the Show Messages option is selected by default.
Try this as a test…………
1 / First you have to start a new project
2 / Insert the Sample_Lake clip to the top track you should see a message panel
3 / Choose Details will allow you to view both properties, the video being on the right
4 / Yes to this and your project properties will be changed to those settings.
This is very convenient as the project will be set correctly
5 / Now repeat from 1 above, for 2 insert one of your MTS video files
Your project properties should now match your video.
Note if the messages does not show then they may already be set, Check Alt + Enter.
The above is a one off when starting a new project.
YES….
To avoid the Burner Busy error you have to first create the ISO whether that be burning DVD, AVCHD or Bluray
Burning discs, there are three options, DVD, AVCHD and Blu-ray.
I have been confused with terminology referring to AVCHD yet burning to Blu-Ray
AVCHD burn option as Ken mentioned earlier allows us to burn the MTS files to a DVD, approx. 35 minutes per disc
Does not really matter as the process to create the video for AVCHD and Blu-ray are the same.
Quick walk through
1 / Edit your project set to MTS properties.
2 / share to create MTS video using Same As options or AVC.H.264
3 / the Bluray Compliant video from 2 above can be used to burn a AVCHD or Bluray
4 / Start a new project, Insert video from 2 above to get the Show Messages, this is to make sure your Project Properties are set correctly.
5 / Remove the video from the timelines
6 / with the timelines empty Share – Disc Bluray
7 / now insert the video file created in 2 above (top left for Add Media - Add Video Files)
8 / complete the menu
9 / on the final page choose “Create Disc Image”
The process should start with “Preparing Output”
If you see Creating Titles then the video is being rendered again, it is this additional render that we should / can avoid.
10 / You can now play the ISO using VLC Media Player
11 / if the quality is ok we can burn the iso to disc using Tools Burn from Disc Image.
Try this from 4 upto 10 above, using a small MTS sample,

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Hi Trevor, Admin & Irishrose.
From the breakdown of Setting changes & Preference, you have walked me through, Trevor I have successfully created DVD & Blu-ray projects via ISO on Discs. Very clear copies & am happy with the results. As expected Blu-ray always clearer but strangely BD-R discs not readily available from stores in Aust anymore....online mainly. With a few end brain dead moments & some confusion of what actual projects (been so many saved & wrote them all down) I was using to create ISO from etc I somehow succeeded.
Strangely this project did not have the audio transition issue of not smoothly changing from one audio to the other even though I always have reduced down each track start & end. Good result there.
I'll test your Show Messages process with the next project I start. Now actually able to be away from home & the computer for few weeks interstate with family, I'm grateful of all the hints & assistance.
Glad Irishrose you've had some success as well. Hope you enjoy future gala family productions. As long as we can get around the burner issue we can manage hopefully going forward.
Again, all assistance appreciated. I'll be staying on all the current project settings.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
melda m -- I am across the Ditch from you in NZ, and it has been several years now since it has been possible to go to a store and buy Blu-Ray blanks. So everything I have is from on-line stores.
That being said, I suspect one of the main reasons for this is that people have realized they can produce their Blu-Ray capable videos, whether AVCHD, 4K or anything else, and simply store them on a USB stick or external hard drive and play them directly on a HDTV. Sure, they might not have menus, but really, are menus absolutely necessary in this day and age when you can see the names of the videos even on the stick or external hard drives, and select and play. I now find myself with quite a pile of Blu-Ray blanks, but haven't produced one in at least two years, probably even more.

Re: Error message: The burner is busy with another application
Thanks Ken…comments taken on board & a fact of life going forward …technology changes & wonder if even DVDs will be able to be viewed in years to come ?? Maybe my efforts will never be part of family history ! I started project life on video camera tapes to cassettes & did convert those to DVDs nearly 20 yrs ago. My video project days are nearly done…older grandkids now thankfully.

I don't know if this issue was resolved 'back in the day' but I recently had the same problem with VS19. I solved it by disabling 'Microsoft Edge' from automatically firing up on startup using Windows 'Task Manager'. (I didn't have the 'bottle' to delete the app completely but a braver person might well do that. J Dee

J Dee, Thanks for pitching in. Admin are/were extremely helpful with lots of options. As you said sometimes you need to be brave to tackle recommendations...I'm not but tried lots !
This issue was not fully resolved for me being able to burn direct from the project to create disc.
My fix was Create a file & then burn to an external disc drive. About to produce another disc in next couple of weeks...so hope my past process still works.
Enjoy your project making.
