No, we don't know of any logical reason why Corel would drop Live Screen Capture and replace with an inferior MultiCam Capture Lite, then expect you to pay extra for the full version.
We can only assume that as LSC is not a Corel program, they no longer wanted to pay a license fee

Re: What happened to screen capture???
I put that issue directly to Nick, the Corel contact, via PM. And his answer was that Corel had issues with support of the product, from a contractor. Frankly I've never had any issues with the product: I came to the conclusion that it was an under-rated gem, and I still use it, win7 and win10. The MCCL alternative is crap, and many VS users agreed; there was a lot of noise about it at the time. I suggested to Nick that if Corel felt so strongly about MCCL against the user experience favouring LSC then why not provide both??
I also made the point to Nick that standard program contracts (especially in the litigation obsessed USA) included a section on source code in escrow, which can be activated under specified conditions - eg the contractor goes broke, or fails to provide support - that can be activated in the sort of conditions he outlined. I even have draft clauses for software in escrow in text books printed in 1990 (The Legal Environment of Computing, Knight, P and Fitzsimmons, J; Addison-Wesley, 1990, pp287-292 Sample Contract M - Escrow Agreements) so it's not new. I cannot believe that Corel as a major software vendor would have lawyers who omitted such a standard provision in their out source contract for the LSC program. Ergo, I believe that remark about contractor support was really just an excuse to use the crappy MCCL alternative, with the prospect of income from upgrades.
But as you see, neither of those options - provide both LSC and MCCL, and exercise the escrow option (to bring the LSC code in house for support) - were exercised.

Re: What happened to screen capture???
Hi
And for me it works ok
I do not have any cameras connected to my computer so don’t use the MultiCam part, and I am left with a screen capture section that works very similar to the older LSC
After launching the MCCL I see two screens, the larger two has two tabs, Settings and Advanced the latter I set the Encode to AVC and the frame rate to 25fps, you may use 30fps. (Capture format is MP4 or Mjpeg whereas LSC can only use WMV)
The settings tab allows me to select a Capture Window or use the freehand selection to select an area
I’m sure the Settings - Advanced and Capture Window are easy to understand
Now I view the ShortCut keys from the smaller window, Hitting F9 hides the large window
I see a panel that looks like the older LSC.
When I return to use MCCL again the Advanced tab is already set, I don’t change that only the Settings tab being used to select a capture area (Capture Window) and that’s the same for LSC
As I say I don’t have a problem.
