VS 2020 Ultimate won't load

What you say regarding Adorage vs Windows 10 seems to make sense.

Corel just had me uninstall (again) VideoStudio 2020 and sent me a new download with a new serial number. This made no difference. Apparently the same Adorage plugin is included.

So the question is: Is there anything we can do to get Adorage to run properly on a windows 10 system or are we just stuck with it the way it is?

You are having problems with adorage version 10
I am not sure if Robert has version 10, although he seems to have a problem with version 13, I'm sure he will confirm
So different problems going on here.

I am sure version 10 was not provided with VideoStudio, so how did you get version 10

I dont think uninstalling Adorage will remove the versions, you will have to manually delete those, i think from the roaming folder structure, not sure exactly where, not on the pc at the moment
Then reinstalling from Video Studio will give you versions 9 and 13

Hi Trevor,
I think you have misread Barry's post, he is referring to Win 10 having an issue with Adorage, not Filter Package 10 in Adorage, as it happens I don't have Package 10 on either computer.
We know that Ken also has the same issue with Adorage and Win 10, so it would be interesting to find out what other users are seeing in Win 7 & Win 10

Hey All,
I have proDAD Adorage 3.0.121 and my only source has been from Corel. It is possible this was a version from a previous VideoStudio (I go back several versions). On loading the Adorage transitions this is what I show: 1) Standard (3 choices), 2) Volume 13, 3) Volume 10, 4) Starter-Pack (155 Fx out of 10,000) and Volume 9. While I have not looked at every transition in every volume, I am saying volume 10 seems to be the most problematic. I have found problems with other volumes also.

I tend to agree that the problem lies with ProDad than with Corel... but shouldn't Corel tell ProDad to update the plugin since it is included and advertised as part of the current package?

To catch up: Corel sent me a new download link for VideoStudio 2020 with a new serial number. They requested I uninstall what I have and reinstall with the new link. Made no difference.

I have completed a few tests and a re-install of Adorage
The installation files are here with a file to uninstall Adorage-3.0, thanks to Ken for those details
C:\Program Files\proDAD\Adorage-3.0
The actual Volume files are saved here C:\ProgramData\proDAD\Adorage
It is within this folder that I found ADO13 and ado 9 folders. These two appear to relate to Volume 9 and Volume 13, as a test I renamed the folders and immediately saw the dreaded Chinese characters, I reset the folder names and Adorage worked ok

Next,
I made a copy of the C:\ProgramData\proDAD\Adorage folder, just as a backup.
Then uninstalled Adorage
Although the process indicated removing the Volume files, (ADO13 and ado 9) that did not happen, so if those files are corrupt any re-install will probably use the same corrupt files.
I deleted that folder
This folder C:\Program Files\proDAD\Adorage-3.0 had its content removed

Ok – leftover files
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\proDAD
This folder contained 2 Adorage folders, I renamed those adding Old to the names.
I believe I have removed all Adorage from my system

Re-install, I used files from CVSX10 by running the Bonus Features file “setup_Bonus.exe”
I prefer running the full package than individual items.
During Installation I noted Volume 9 being installed and indeed worked ok
I have Video Studio X10 through to 2020 , all have Adorage available - Volume 9 only
I checked my installation files for Adorage and 2019 was the first version to provide Volume 13
I have now installed 2020 Bonus Features that installed Volume 13, which is again available to all my VS programs.
So I am back to square one
The question is where does Volume 10 come into the equation

Using Adorage I can view the install details as

The preview displays 225 frames at 25 frames per second.
307.200 kBytes are reserved for preview and 16.384 kBytes for graphics.
141 groups and 842 effects are loaded.

- "Folder for my own effects" has been installed as version 1 .

Wow Trevor; You are really on this.
I went to my Program Data, prodad, adorage folders as you mention and found I have folders for ado8, ado9, ado13, and Adorage5. I do not show volume 5 or volume 8 in my Videostudio 2020 install both on Adorage transitions and filters. Why I have volume 10 in my Videostudio 2020 ultimate, I don't know.
Again, my current install for VideoStudio 2020 Ultimate came from a link sent to me by Corel (along with a new serial number) about 2 days ago. This was after doing a complete uninstall as per Corel's instructions.

That is exactly what mine looks like. As for volume 10, perhaps it did come from my Cyberlink installation, but it too has the problems in Cyberlink. I have used the ProDad uninstall that Ken found as well as the method Corel sent me and of course deleted all 'Bonus programs'. All fingers seem to point to Adorage and Windows 10 but it seems to me both Corel and Cyberlink need to get ProDad to update Adorage as long as they include Adorage in their current packages.

One mystery solved: I was just looking at my older install files for powerdirector 17 Among them is adorage-dspvol10.

And in that last post, bjtap1 may have solved the issue.
Currently on my desktop, I don't have any VS version installed, but do have PD18 ult. So I created a one clip project to see what the PD adorage filter looks like in PD ultimate:

and it has Adorage vol10 in it.

And from the details in the prodad explorer folder, it really looks like there is an adorage filer specifically for Power Director: in the adorage 3.0 folder, there is a subfolder for cyberlink that has the adorage.dll file in it.

So, if your PC has (or had) both editors installed it may well be that VS is picking up the Adorage vol10 from PD, when perhaps it shouldn't. Not the first time that's happened - recall the use in 2019/2020 when mercalli 2.0 and 4.0 appeared in the VS filter list.

Based on what you said I went back into PD after having reinstalled the Adorage Volume 10. It worked fine as did all other volumes which are NOT part of the Cyberlink package. (e.g. vol 9 and 13). When reinstalling the volume 10 there was indication it was for Cyberlink only but you are right somehow VP2020 does pick it up. Note: I did not test every transition... but the problem seemed to disappear.
When reinstalling the VS2020 Adorage package, which does NOT include 10, there was indication that it was being installed on other video editors including Cyberlink.

Bottom line for me right now is that all packages seem to be working in both video PD and VS2020... and I really am not sure why. The only thing I can say is that I used the Cyberlink Adorage 10 install last.

But you are definitely right: VS2020 and PD do seem to pick up each other's installations whether the installation process shows it or not.

I suspect that this "effect" is because
- both editors put Prodad filters in the prodad folder in C:\program files
- both editors out data for the prodad programs in the C:\program data folder. I found the same folder here that trevor cites also on my PC from a power director installation.

Power director doesn't seem to "acquire" the same filters as Video Studio - but at the moment since my PC is bare of VS someone else would have to verify that. What seems to be happening here is that VS assumes filters in the same prodada folder are 'theirs' and simply use what is there; whereas since there are specific cyberlink folders in the prodad tree, at least power director is taking some measures to ensure that what it uses is it's own. A round-about way of saying that the VS programmers are taking unwarranted short cuts.

Note that this may well be the case for Vitascene too - another prodad filter used by both VS and power director, for which I found folders in the prodad tree.

As an example, I have Movie Studio Platinum 16 and Magix Movie Edit Pro 2019, (both of course are Magix programs) now both programs use exactly the same folders for New Blue, therefore there is conflict, because each program displays the others New Blue Filters and trying to sort them out is just not worth the effort, in the end I removed both programs, then reinstalled Movie Studio Platinum

My VS Ultimate 2020 loads very well, (now) but I still have problems when I want to do something else.

I used to have Ultimate X4, X5, X6, X8 installed along with my X10. Each of them were OK. I recently bought the 2020 Ultimate version. I also bought few NewBlue FX (5 of them) from the Corel 2020 page. After my request for a certain problem, Corel support wrote that I should delete all versions prior to X10 because they weren't compatible to Windows 10 (which I had since 2017 for all previous versions). I did delete these old versions and lost many NewBlue FX that I could still previously use with my X10. My problem remained the same. I was then suggested to uninstall and install again X10 and 2020, but the problem was the same. Here it is : I bought Motion Blends (Corel gave me a wrong link to Motion Effects, which is already included. After writing to them, they sent me the good link), 3D Explosions, 3D Transforms, NewBlue Video Essentials III and Light Effects. First three installed very well in 2020 and were functional, but did not intall in X10. Essentials III and Light Effects installed in X10, but when I wanted to start 2020, the « Splash screen » appeared and then everything stopped. I followed « lata » advice (renamed the 23.0 to 23.0_old) without success. I uninstalled Essentials III and Light Effects. X10 and 2020 were OK. I installed Essentials III. X10 functionned very well, 2020 wouldn't start. Uninstalled it and did the same with Light Effects. One more time after uninstalling that effect, both X10 and 2020 were OK.

After a new message to Corel, I received instructions that I followed step by step from this link : https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... ue-plugins. I wrote to Corel that the problem was always the same and that I saw that X10 is installed under Program Files (X86) and 2020 under Program Files. Their last message now is that I should uninstall X10 because it might interfere with the 2020 version when wanting to install NewBlue FX.

I need my Ultimate X10 when I want to do things with Boris Graffiti that is no longer included within my 2020.
