VS 2020 Ultimate won't load

Videostudio 2020 ultimate will not boot. Steps I have taken:

1) complete uninstall and reinstall
2) using ctrl - shift when starting
3) restarting the computer
4) trying to run as administrator

Task manager shows APLoading MFC Application

The splash screen runs for a minute or so and shuts down as the above task disappears.

Any suggestions please.

When did this condition start?
- after a windows update?
- when you first installed the specific VS2020 ultimate version?
If then latter, are you still within the 30-day warranty period for the software??? If so, get a refund quickly - that's one way to attract Corel's attention, and if you spend time trying to fix it it, you may run out of time to do that.

Relevant commentary.
- On a first start after installation, it can take several minutes for the program to gets all it's ducks lined up (setting firewall rules, etc) - the perception is a long time, but after that the typical start time is around 10-12seconds (depends a lot on the PC hardware you have.) There have been many many complaints and comments about this, but Corel hasn't noticeably changed it. So, did you leave it long enough for this first slow start to finish?
- If you have waited more than several minutes for VS to launch, is there any activity by VS in task manager when the splash screen disappears: is there any VS component running at all??
- How did you get the program - download, or retail disk purchase ?? There have been instances in the past (prior versions) of 'will not launch' being caused by a corrupted launcher dll file in a download situation.

thanks for the response. The problem has been happening on and off even since v2019. I went through a period where it would load about half the time... but soon this turned into not loading at all.
I first installed the program months ago... beyond refund time.
As per you relevant commentary:
First start after installation I let it go until it just shut down on it's own... which it does all the time.
I stated above regarding the task manager: Task manager shows APLoading MFC Application. The splash screen runs for a minute or so and shuts down as the task just disappears.
The program was downloaded from Corel. In this case, unintalled and then re-downloaded everything. I also tried reinstalling with my original download. Whether using the original or subsequent download the results are the same.

One thing I did not mention: I also tried reinstalling and then selecting repair. That never worked and several times during the repair attempts, a message popped up to the effect that repair ran into a problem. The last time I tried repair that message popped up 6 times, I just clicked ok and let the process go to completion... obviously unsuccessfully.

Oof. Does 2019 do this too? Or is 2020 the only one affected?

I went through the uninstall reinstall bit for the third time and the program seems to be loading well now. I am becoming very leary of using videostudio because of this problem. I hate to spend hours on a project only to lose it because the program won't load.

BUT: The there is another problem that I discovered.

A whole bunch of Adorage filters, transitions just don't work. There are too many to list. I get: 1) a message in chinese when I select the filter, transition or 2) selecting a transition (and this is only one example) such as balloon only yields a crossfade. Again, there are too many to list.
I tried reinstalling these filters, transitions again (2x) but no luck.

I have contacted Corel about these problems, will see what happens.

DavidK, I only have v2020 on my computer. I was responding to your question about how long the problem has been happening. I was just thinking back to previous versions: I should have been more clear.
Oz: If Adorage is a known issue, is their a known cure?
Corel just replied essentially giving me instructions to reset Videostudio. I will do that later but I do not see how that will repair Adorage. We shall see.

Hi Barry
You should reset the program, this is done by re-naming the folder 23 to “23_old”
Launching Video Studio will re-create the 23 folder using the default program files, if there are any library issues then these may be fixed
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\23.0

I would advise that first you backup the library by Settings – Library Manager – Export Library

Resetting the program as above should not affect your projects.

When you re-installed Video Studio you should choose to remove all personal data etc. that will remove the 23 folder
When installing you should allow the program to install all packages automatically, doing a manual install of individual plugins can cause issues.

The only cure other than re-installing was files provided by Prodad
Another poster Getbinky had the same issue after contacting Prodad was given a link to download a file which seems to have fixed the issue

Ken Berry mentioned finding an uninstall for Adorage
C:\Program Files\proDAD\Adorage-3.0
Double click the uninstall.exe

Then locate your download installation files to run the Bonus Features
Your download files ---- \64bit\BonusFeature
Double click the setup_bonus.exe to install the entire package again.

I just went through the procedure as you stated above. Corel contacted me and told me the exact same thing.
As for the download of volume 9... I installed that and it seems to work perfectly. Now for the twist: I have (had) volumes 10 and 13 in my original install. While I haven't tried all the transitions it is 10 that seems to be the most problematic.
I am going to uninstall and reinstall using the C:\Program Files\proDAD\Adorage-3.0 file. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Okay,
I did the uninstall with the C:\Program Files\proDAD\Adorage-3.0.
Upon reinstall the same problem still exists especially in Vol 10.
I installed the volume 9 again and that works well. So I guess I traded volume 9 for volume 10.

I just went to adorage in cyberlink powerdirector 365 (v19). Same thing there.
So this appears to be more of a prodad problem than a corel problem

The issue is with Adorage and Win 10,
I have Adorage 3.0.121 installed on the Win 7 desktop and the Win 10 laptop.
On Win 7, the Folders, Standard, Starter Pack, Volume 9 and Volume 13, have every single filter fully functional with no Chinese

On Win 10
In the Starter Pack, some filters are functional, but the majority are in Chinese
Volume 9 is fully functional
Volume 13 is Chinese and non functional

and I have Adorage installed by Corel Video Studio BonusFeatures both version 9 and 13 work ok, NO Chinese characters
