PSP 2021 Ult freezes during AI resize

I have this annoying intermittent problem while using AI powered resize with GPU acceleration. Paintshop Pro regularly freezes at random times in the process. I have to end the PSP app in the task manager. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Paintshop Pro 2021 Ultimate 23.0.0.143 x64
Windows 10 Version 2004 (OS build 19041.508)
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti Driver version 456.38

The problem also occurs without GPU acceleration.

I got recently PaintShop Pro 2021 as Trial and have also serious problems with the Image Resize operation:
- the application always chooses by default AI-Powered
- AI-Powered resizing takes over 2 minutes (with a very powerful CPU running at 100%) ... ending up with an unresized image! Unacceptable. A resize operation should be completed in a fraction of a second
- with AI-Powered, no possibility to unselect the Lock aspect ratio option. I often need to adapt the aspect ratio
- when choosing another Resample method, like Bicubic, this setting is not preserved; next time again AI by default
- when playing with the advanced resize options, sometimes it happens that Photorealistic and Illustration modes become selected BOTH at the same time.

The Resize function worked fine in the 2020 edition which I also tried. I abandoned rapidly that version because of the crazy Crop tool behavior, where the image, initially fitting its window, moved partly outside of the window, again and and again, while trying to adjust the crop size and position. This major issue seems to be fixed in the 2021 edition, but now we have the Resize problem. A basic and essential function like resizing not working is a severe handicap for an image processing tool. That should be fixed as soon as possible.

Why powering PaintShop with AI? I think there are still "simple" functionalities missing in PaintShop that are more urgent to be implemented than AI, like for example resizing a selection. But that's another topic.

I'm on Windows 8.1x64 with a 1050Ti gfx card, always using PSP's Complete workspace, and the Resize defaults to AI only when the targeted dimensions are larger than the original ones. Even then, I can switch to a different resizing method If I need the functionality of previous versions. I've also read here in the forum several people having issues with the AI Powered resize, giving faulty final results (like black frames, etc) but so far I had no issues with it at all, GPU powered or not (I think Corel suggests updating the drivers of the graphics card).

Regarding selection resizing, if you mean the marching ants, you can transform them by enabling the Selections -> Edit Selection mode. Here are more details about it: https://youtu.be/uBYyPa6kjRA

Thank you very much for the tip about resizing a selection. I had a look at the YT video. It is exactly what I was looking for, especially since I often need to adjust position and size of an elliptical selection as in the YT example.
Regarding the AI powered resizing that fails on my system, I'm glad that it works on your side, so there is some hope that I can reach a solution. My Windows 10-x64 PC has an Intel i7 10th generation CPU with Intel graphics chip and all the latest drivers. I will continue the tests on that PC and, if I have the opportunity, I will also try PSP 2021 on an older PC with Nvidia graphics chip.

You are welcome jorg32. Please let us know if using your nVidia card with updated drives, makes AI resize behave as expected.
