Compile Video Issue

Post by Tomasina »

Hello,

I am having an issue compiling my edited project into a video file, and am at a loss for how to proceed.

Initially I chose the default AVC/H.264 setting... but when it starts to compile I get an error 2000:1:1 "Failed to Encode the Video".

Not sure what to do with that error, I changed to Mpeg-4 which gets to 26% in rendering until I get error 17200:1101:801 "Failed on Reading Video"

I am not sure how to proceed at this point... and was hoping someone might have some ideas.

Thanks!

OK. By "compiling" I assume you mean you are in Share mode. You have tried Sharing to H.264 and mp4. But can you please give us the properties of the original video in the project. Right click a clip in the timeline and copy its Properties here, or take a screen shot of the Properties box and upload it here as an Attachment.

Yes, you are correct, by compiling I mean going to the Share tab and selecting a format and clicking Start.

I have attached the properties image from one of the clips.

Let me know if any other information would be helpful.

First off, can we assume you have both the Quicktime codec and the Microsoft HEVC Extension installed?

Second, I notice that the video uses a variable framerate. It's very close to the standard framerate of 30 fps, but Video Studio has trouble with variable framerates. I would suggest you put the video through a third party video converter such as the free Handbrake, setting it with similar properties, but using a standard framerate of 30 fps (or even more correctly at 29.97 fps).

Third, you don't tell us anything about your computer specifications. HEVC video is particularly demanding of computer resources i.e. it needs to be a pretty top end machine. Have you used SmartProxy with it in your project?

Just to add one more data point.

I created a new project and put one video at a time into it, and then tried "compiling" it individually.

None of them worked with the AVC/H.264 setting, so I may not have some needed codecs. Is there a way to get these?

All of them worked with the MPEG-4 setting. If I then go back to the project that combines all these clips, I get the same error I originally mentioned.

In terms of my computer specs:

Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor 3.80 Ghz
16 GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super

I am not sure what SmartProxy is.

I just looked up SmartProxy and that is not enabled for my project.

Your profile is very sparse. What version of VS are you using?

I am using 2020 Ultimate.

I followed Ken's feedback and ran all the videos through handbrake converting them to 29.97 fps. That did the trick, and it is now compiling.

I am not sure why I can do them all separately and then run into this issue when combining them... but it is easy enough to convert them to the fixed framerate before editing.
