Post by MystikAngel »

Hello I can't save anything as PSPIMAGE saving my made picture tubes as a PSPimage doesn't send them to my picture tube list when I save an image I made in PSP as a PSPIMAGE I can not open it in animation Shop when I click on the Animation Wizard button and put in the information and add my images and click next I get an error message that says "This is not a valid paint shop pro image file." When I click ok another message comes up which I took a screen shot of and am enclosing here. Can someone please help me with this? Thank you.

You need to save your image as psp file type, not pspimage file type to be able to open it in AS.

You don't save the images as a PSPimage, you do File > Export > Picture Tube.

The new dialog that comes up allows you to make a single tube or a tube containing a number of images.
The resultant file is saved in
C:\Users\*UserName*\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2018\Picture Tubes
and is found there as .PspTube and should be immediately available when using your Picture Tube tool.

Youtube has a number of videos on making your own picture tubes -

I tried that tutorial you sent to a T and still I can't get anything to show up in my picture tube list. I am being sent back to the same places but still nothing helps.

Have you made sure that your Picture Tube folder is selected in File Locations/Picture Tubes and that you are actually saving to the folder you are looking into for the new tube?
Also that you have All set in the Category option in the Tool Options so you see all Picture Tubes.

How do I figure out where all that is and if I am doing it right?

Using PSP top menu go to File-->Preferences-->File Locations.
Select Picture Tubes on the left and on the right side make sure that the folder you are saving your Picture Tubes to is shown in the folder list and that folder is also shown under the option Save To.

And under Picture Tube drop down section make sure All is selected. Or you can select the name of the folder where you saved the tube if you organise tubes into folder types.

Ok going through the production of a tube-
1. open a new 300 x 300 transparent document and use the paint brush to draw a simple image . I drew a smiling ghost.
0001savingtubes.jpg
2. Do File > Export >Picture Tube and the Export Picture Tube dialog box opens, Type in a name - I chose aaaghost (the choice should place the tube near the top in alphabetical order) but do not press OK to save it yet .
3. Circled and Labelled in the lower image is an icon that will take you to the File Locations to show you where the tubes are being saved.
0002copylocation and complete save.jpg
4. The Users ... Documents line is where user made items are stored in this case by clicking that and highlighting I can see and copy the path to the picture tubes folder. Cop the path and then press OK and again Ok to complete the save of your picture tube.
5. Right click Start and choose File Explorer and in the address bar space paste your Picture Tube path. In my case it shows this
0003ExplorerPictureTubesFolder.jpg
and I can see my tube aaaghost at the top of the list.
6. Now going back to PSP 2018 and with a document on the workspace choose the Picture Tube tool and click the down arrow beside the last chosen picture tube to see the list of available tubes . Make sure Category is All and then scroll to the top (It will open to the last used picture tube which may be lower down the list. ) As you can see in my case the ghost is second in my list because the number comes first in the sort.

Now if you follow these steps you should be able to see the made up tube. If you are missing something in on of the steps thats where you need to let us know as that may be the problem .
