Hi,
Does anyone have any idea as to why I get the below error
when trying to capture video using VS9 (but not when I use VS8):
"Unexpected error: This pin cannot use the supplied media type."
I am not even sure what the error is telling me, although I believe
it comes from Microsofts DirectShow software.
The camera I am using is a Sony DCR-HC85.
Thanks

You don't give us much to go on, and in particular how you have the camera connected to your computer. I don't think I have ever seen the particular message you report mentioned in my 30 months on this Board.
If I were to hazard a guess, however, I would say that you are connected via USB and the supplied cable. Your camera is a top line model, and understand it has USB 2, so should be able to transfer high quality video via USB. But I believe that if you use this method, you have to use the (Sony?) Movie Maker software which came with the camera. Otherwise, to capture high quality DV format video, you have to use the Firewire port (probably called i-link in your Sony manual) which is under the same rubber flap below your battery as the USB port. The problem is that this is never made clear, and worse, a Firewire cable is never provided. The other complication is that you have to have a Firewire port on your computer as well. If you don't have one, I would investigate having one installed.
If not, then you might have to capture with Movie Maker, and then import it and do your edits in Video Studio.
