What's the secret to creating solid text?

According to my experience, the manual erroneously states that the "Font color -- lets you set the font fill color." But this setting only lets me select the outline color of the text.

Now I can edit the fill color by changing its properties, AFTER I create the text. Is there a way to type in solid text--i.e. set the fill color the same as the outline color BEFORE typing in the text...without the extra steps of editing the properties?

Not on the pc so cannot run psp to check
But a right click on a colour and a left click on same colour should set the font to one colour
Should set fill and outline to same colour

Nope. That fails.

I have been using PSP since the early days of JASC and still find the Text Tool to be the most difficult one to master. Sometimes the text "Properties" are not accessible. I do not plan on upgrading until the Text Tool is stabilized. Sigh!

OK, I'm blowing off steam. I will wait until someone can lend me a hand with this extremely complex task.

Is there a way to type in solid text?

Select the Text Tool.
First of all, do a Font reset: in the Options Toolbar, click on Presets/Reset to default
In the Materials Palette, set the Foreground color (Stroke) and the Background color (Fill) to different colors.

Type your text. It will be solid without editing it.

Yes! At last!!! The reset worked. I would have thought exiting PSP then, on another day, starting a new project would not carry over the issue. Thank you sooooooo much.
