Hi guys,
Just faced an issue trying to create my own template in the Split Screen Template editor. So, I wanted just to split the screen to 4 parts. I did it, but then found that cannot select the last 4-th part to resize or to move its area. Seems there is a kind of bug in the selecting tool. I believe someone faced the same issue too. I am little bit disappointed with such a bug. Hope you will fix it soon. Please refer to the attached video to see the Template editor behavior. Thank you!

Re: Split Screen Template editor issue
Hi Alex
And welcome to the forums
You need to select the line that you created, then below the Graphics section shows properties
The Horizontal setting will position the line, the centre line will = 0, first line -25 and last line 25.
The vertical panels you see are full screen clips (16:9) each panel having a mask applied, all panels overlay each other
We just select the line position which selects the edge of the mask, clear as mud
I have attached my attempt, simply import to the library, then double click should open the editor

Re: Split Screen Template editor issue
Hi lata,
Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I understand how to move the split lines to any position. But what I still do not understand is how to change position and size of the clips that are placed into the regions. I already showed in the attached video that I can easy do it only for first two clips. I can change only their position into the splitted regions. But I cannot do the same for 3rd and 4th regions. I cannot activate/select them for some reason.
Sure I understand, that I can change the clip positions further, when applying the created template to the time line. But why in the editor it works, but works for first two clips only?
Thank you for the SplitScreen06.vsmontage you sent. Anyway it is not a trivial task to import it into VS. I expected to do this by right-clicking somewhere in the Split screen template list (see the screenshot), but only a project template file can be imported in such a way. I didn't find anything in the Help articles about files with .vsmontage extension. So, sorry, cannot test your template. Anyway, the main issue is still the same (pls see above).

Re: Split Screen Template editor issue
Hi Alex
A little confusion regarding the Library Templates (was called Instant Projects in earlier versions) – Split Screen samples
What you see here are overlay templates they are not Split Screens as such as they do not open the SS Templates Editor.
From the Split Screen Editor I had no problems in moving the frames to reposition my images for all segments 1 to 4
I Just viewed the video you provided and you seem to be resizing the frames.
You are best to add an image to the panels, then when you drag the image you will see something move, without an image all is black.
From the Template Editor the library shows on the left, select Samples, then drag images to the panels or thumbnails
Selecting a thumbnail will allow you to drag the image around the screen. I was able to do this for all panels
At the bottom are 3 options
OK Is the one you should use, OK
This creates a true Split Screen file, saved to the Media Library, also opens the clips on the timeline.
Double click the library clip and the editor will open again
Export As Template, this for me is wrong and confusing it creates a Split Screen Template saved to the Templates library, is of little use as it will not open the editor so difficult to re-edit
So all I can say is use OK, it works better and creates an editable project file.
Unfortunately, both type OK and Export as template have the same name but react differently to being used.
Sorry if that is a little confusing
OK
From the timelines I see 4 overlay tracks, one for each image
From the library drag any image over one of the clips, hold Shift will show replace clip, then drop.
My vsmontage template, import that file to the media library in the same way as importing any image
Select the Samples library and import there.
Double click should open the Templates Editor, Add Images

Re: Split Screen Template editor issue
Hi Trevor, thank you for your explanation. I tried again to create a new split screen template (pls see the attached screenvideo), but the issue is the same. It doesn't matter where I drug the sample image - either to the thumbnail or to the segment. It works in both ways, I have tested this. The problem is that after I put the last sample to the last 4th segment (to the 4th thumbnail), I cannot select that sample (the thumbnail) to change its position. Sure, maybe it works on your side, but it doesn't work on my side. Evenmore, there is another issue, when I have scrolled the thumbnails to the last 4th thumbnail, I cannot go to the previous thumbnails clicking on the arrow on the scroll bar. It is only possilbe to scroll back by the mouse wheek (see in the same video).
Regarding the SplitScreen06.vsmontage:
"My vsmontage template, import that file to the media library in the same way as importing any image
Select the Samples library and import there."
Sorry, all I got is:
So, how can I import that vsmontage file?
Thank you!
Regards,
Aleksey

Re: Split Screen Template editor issue
Hi Alex
Regarding the SplitScreen06.vsmontage, it shows as being on the Y Drive
If that is an external drive it could cause problems, are you able to copy the file to your C drive.
OK
Thanks for the video, yes I can replicate this problem
I first suspect your monitor is a little smaller than mine at 1650 x 1080, I say that as I can set 4 sections with all thumbnails showing whereas you can only set 3, then scroll
So I created 5 and had to use the scroll bar to reveal the last thumbnail, then things went wrong, as your video sample
As soon as i move the scroll bar things dont work
I will report this to Corel once I have tested a little further.
All I can suggest is after creating the sections and added the images simply press OK to return to the timelines, Then drag the VSP from the library to the timelines,
you can of course add clips when back on the main timelines.
Here you can select each clip and reposition by dragging the preview screen.
I am a little surprised this has not been reported before although larger 4K monitors may not have this issue till sufficient sections are treated to allow scrolling the thumbnails.
