Re: VS vs. Olive
I looked at the olive video and whilst it may be interesting, especially if you run linux instead of windows, I think there would be a steep learning curve to use olive and very little advantage (apart from free). Imagine trying to use olive without any VS knowledge!
But, this is a VideoStudio forum so I would expect most users here to have already invested their cash in VS.
For me, the overriding advantages of VS is that it is intuitive, easy to use, comes with an outstanding number of transitions, effects, and plugins (especially ultimate versions). It easily displays the effects/transitions during parameter edits, allows quick visible changes without having to find the right numbers to key in. Key frames are easier with drag/stretch/drop and easy to see the changes and motion between the frames in the edit window before committing them.
VS has been established and improved upon over many years, and yes, it does have some failings but compared to olive which is just starting it's journey ... sorry, but for me there in no competition between the two

Re: VS vs. Olive
I looked at the video, which really didn't show off what the software can do, but then went to the website. There is very little information there about the specifications of the software.
I think that there are better free alternatives out there than this one.

Re: VS vs. Olive
A whole lot of time spent in the video on the file management feature and making simply edits. This isn't surprising given that it's alpha software but the relentless music and lack of narration doesn't do Olive any favours. If there are any filters, the video doesn't show them nor does the website list them.asik1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:05 am Just spend 10 min on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiHAVB4RoYs
IMHO, it'll take years of effort to make Olive a well-rounded NLE.
