Re: Slow Thumbnails in Timeline
VS can take an inordinate amount of time to display thumbnails when you fully zoom-out. During this time, VS is completely unresponsive. The amount of time to fully zoom-out doesn't appear to depend on the CPU, GPU, SSD or use of proxy files. In my experience, there are many operations where VS is very slow as it simply doesn't effectively exploit the available hardware.Old Grey wrote:Is this the normal speed for thumbnails in the timeline for X9 and i7 4770?

Yes it's normal, I will seldom "shrink" TL , but observe the portions I'm working on and after a while the full TL will be filled

Re: Slow Thumbnails in Timeline
The zoom is actually quicker and automatic, ie, you can do something else while it's going. If you scroll, the cursor gets stuck on the bottom scroll bar until the thumbs appear, and even them you have to do a section at a time and wait, ie, you have to manually scroll a section at a time and wait there for each section to appear.
Looks like it's normal behaviour, so I just do the zoom and coffee - lol -.
