Moving Folders from the C Drive to the D drive
I think I read recently that the 'Working Folders' on VS can be moved to a different location (say C: to D:).
Could I therefore move all the folders/files from C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro from the C drive to the D drive?
And then of course specify different working folders in preferences.
On another note I have just received an email from Corel with the subject line 'We can answer any VideoStudio question you’ve got!'
All is well.

Re: Moving Folders from the C Drive to the D drive
providing you are talking about the data that you use in a project and not the actual system files then you can easily put them anywhere you want on your computer - if you move them you will of course need to relink them all again when you try to open the project again but that is usually a fairly straightforward task as usually when you relink the first in a folder then the rest are automatically linked as well
You do not have to use any folders within the Videostudio folders - I have always put my working folders in "My Videos / Videos" since that is the bulk of each project - I also create a new working folder for each and every project I start giving it a sensible name like "Holiday 2016 or USA road trip 2015 " so that I can quickly identify outside of Videostudio where the files used are in case I need them for something else - then on starting a new project just open preferences and specify the correct folder as your working folder
Many members also install the Videostudio programme files on different drives which is possible but I do not think that is what you are talking about here

Actually I was considering moving all of the VS files from the 'My Documents' Folder on the C drive.
The whole 34.6Gb.

Ah No - you can't move programme files just like that - they have to be installed correctly in the new location. You would need to uninstall VideoStudio completely from the C drive and then re-install specifying where you want the install to go to
It is only files like videos and photos that you can move around at will

I don't recall being given an option to specify where VS was installed to.

This is the appropriate method of moving user file directories.asik1 wrote:It's not a VS thing it's windows

Re: Moving Folders from the C Drive to the D drive
Thanks Asik1,
I took a closer look, the bulk are Proxies (25Gb) and some painting creator files. Most of which I can delete.
Thanks for the help, everyone.

Re: Moving Folders from the C Drive to the D drive
Hi John
Things seem to be getting a little over complicated
I work the same as BJC where my personal video and image files are saved to folders on my D Drive
Those video files will be the largest files I will use.
Working folders do not do that much, save screenshots to the working folder.
We can allocate any folder to be the working folder, I usually set the working folder as my video files location.
When I start a new project, I create a new folder for the video files, set that as my new working folder. I also save the vsp project files to the working folder.
It would be best if the program allowed the working folder to be associated with each project rather than a generic folder for all.
Your documents folder does seem to be quite large at 36 Gb.
Can you say which files are there?
The Corel VideoStudio Pro folder is used for all versions installed so could have many files.
What you need to do, rather than moving files is simply to avoid using the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder. That is up to you to manage your video files on the D Drive.
1 .... The largest files the program will use are Smart Proxy, we can set those to use the D Drive
2 .... some temporary files used when burning a disc, up to 4Gb ish, can be allocated to the D Drive
3 .... when I do Share I chose a folder on the D Drive to save the rendered files
Very little is being saved to the C Drive
I am not on my pc at the moment, but am sure there no folders on the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder that cannot be avoided.
Smart Proxy
Go to Preferences F6 – performance tab
Is Smart Proxy enabled
If yes - what folder is being used?

Re: Moving Folders from the C Drive to the D drive
Hello Trevor,
I will do exactly the same, when I get home, away on the boat at the moment.
Most of the space was taken up by smart proxy files which I can now delete.
Thanks for the replies.
