Custom Shortcuts Solved in 2021?

Post by pierogo »

I purchased PSP 2020 shortly after it came out, upgrading from PSP 2019. PSP 2020 wouldn't save the custom shortcuts I'd been using and had programmed into my Contour Shuttle (a fun time-saver), and I read that there was no patch forthcoming to solve the problem. The next release of the program would, according to a moderator here, take care of it. I abandoned 2020 and went back to using 2019. Now, pop-ups are nagging me to buy 2021, so my first question is, has the issue with custom shortcuts not being saved with the workspace solved? My second question is will I have to pay for the new program when the last one went unused because of a bug that couldn't get fixed?

Hi pierogo,

yes the custom keyboard shortcuts issue has been fixed in 2021, as far as I can tell.

You can also workaround it in 2020 by saving your workspace after the customization, and load it on demand.
This video shows a couple of ways to automate the process: https://youtu.be/JB-C1yNjrVA

I have a follow-up question: Toward the end of the video the suggestion is made to record a script that loads the saved workspace, save it and bind it to an icon that can be dragged to the toolbar and saved with the workspace. I successfully get through the steps and complete the binding, but when I drag the script's icon to the toolbar, it doesn't stick. I noticed in the tutorial video that a circled plus sign is visible at the bottom of the toolbar, but one is not in mine, so I suspect that's the problem. If so, how do I enable the toolbar to accept the new icon?

You need to work in the Complete Workspace.
Go to the Home button (top of screen) and select Complete.
Be sure also you click on View / Toolbars / Tools
