Post by vasilis »

Hello.I am interesting about latest paintshop 2021.But i have a phobias and i am hesitant. With all versions that i used in the past (X7,X8 2018) and with two laptops(!!!!) i have the same issue :The path to the language folder could not be resolved, setup.Everyone told me it was corel issue, microsoft told me that is a common corel issue.Corel he never gave me a convincing explanation why it happens only with paintshop!!!!Βut told me ( and i saw it in an articlet that is not exist anymore, the link is dead) to create a new user profile.Because the old one is corrupted. But i don't know. The profile was allready corrupted ?????Becomed corrupted due paintshop???Or my profiles wasn't corrupted and was paintshop issue?Any way after that , i stoped using paintshop and i would ask you if anyone knows about this issue. If it still persist

Have you installed PSP in its default location? If you are sure everything else is fine on your system, it could be that you have installed it in a sub-directory which PSP has trouble to resolve.

You don't give much details, so I am not sure which of those versions you listed work for you and which don't, but you can always D/L the trial version of PSP 2021 and check if it works for you.

Maybe reading back through your older post will help with a solution. Good luck.

Hi Vasilis
OK
Have you at any time relocated your Documents folder from its normal location here:-
C:\Users\UserName\Documents ---- to another drive?
If you access the Documents folder there should be sub folders for C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro
Within this folder are versions of PSP installed,2019 has is a samples folder, typically C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2019\Samples
Do you see that folder. (sorry I do not have 2018)

You should try installing the Trial version of PSP to see if that gives the same error

Hi Vasilis
I have managed to force the installer to show the message “ the path to the language folder could not be resolved, Setup cannot continue”
Are you still having this issue when trying to install PSP.
Using X7 I ran the PSPX7_PF.exe file, this extracts its content to the %temp% folder in a sub folder called “Corel PaintShop Pro X7”
It is the files here that are used to install the program, after completion the folder content is removed as no longer required.
However the folder does contain a Lang folder, I renamed that folder and was then shown the error.
It is possible that you are missing that Lang folder.

I can only assume there is a problem with your %temp% folder
When last did you clean the %temp% folder

Vasilis, does by any chance your Windows username contain non-latin letters? It is a long shot, and PSP should have no issues with non-Latin path names, but if nothing else works try creating a new user in your Windows, with the name containing Latin letters only.
