Re: VS 2020 August Update
What version is now showing under Help? I haven't looked at mine for a couple of weeks at least, but just did and it is still 20.3.0.587. I also did a manual check for updates and there was a nil return. That was Manual Update at the bottom of the drop down menu. But when I clicked Check for Updates at the top of that menu, it told me it has something. But when I clicked to install (Update Now), nothing more happened. I waited a while, then clicked again, but again nothing happened. So I closed VS 2020.
On reopening, there was a message box saying there was an update ready to install, did I want to install it. Again I said OK. This time a download occurred quickly followed by an install. It told me to close VS. The update installed pretty quickly -- less than 30 seconds though at the end it hung for well over 3 minutes. Then when ready, it took nearly 4 minutes to open VS. It now shows version 23.3.0.646.
That being said, I have no idea as yet of what it contained... There is nothing on Corel.com about it (indeed no updates there since X10).

Re: VS 2020 August Update
I just clicked on "check for updates" and it presented a screen to up date the software which I am doing now. I version: 23.3.0.646 It would be nice if they told us what was updated?

Re: VS 2020 August Update
Having received the update message I seem to have got myself into an update loop.
When I try to update, the programme hangs on or near completion (I waited 15 mins with this screen displayed) Pressing cancel did not work and I had to close the update using Task Manager.
When I next open VS2020 I receive the following message. If I say o/k then the loop starts again.
My version number is 23.2.0.600
I also wondered why, on Task Manager, it says 32 bit, my programme is 64 bit.

Re: VS 2020 August Update
All I can say is that it took ages for me once the download started. Certainly not 15 minutes but closer to 5. All I can suggest is that you go away and do something else for, say, 30 minutes or even more, to see if something actually downloads and installs. I got that same image you got showing the Setup Status as fully completed, yet it took ages to go away. Give it a bit more time...

As the man said "To lose patience is to lose the battle".
It took a reboot and a 20 minute wait but I am now a member of the 23.3.0.646 club.

I installed it without issue but, it took about 5 minutes similar to Ken's download.

Re: VS 2020 August Update
Hi Adi
Not sure if you are expecting miracles but Corel keep us in the dark as well.
I have e-mailed the Corel team to see if they have some details, other than that not a lot we can do.
I downloaded the SP4 file which saved to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Corel\VideoStudio2020
At 1.5 Gb is large to say the least but same size as SP3
Later rebooting VS gave me a message that the installation was ready, It took about 4 minutes to install the entire pack, launching VS again seemed to start without much delay, I did not time it but seemed a normal launch time.
Re-booted to time the launch took 19 seconds, that is relatively slow.
The program looks normal.
Version number is 23.3.0.646
For me would make more sense to use 23.4.0.646 given that SP4 has just been installed.

Re: VS 2020 August Update
The new workspace "look" that came with 2018 also included new method of updating.
Previously, there was a progress indicator when initiated from the application menu (a rotating wagon wheel); OR you could independently download it from the support site and install at your convenience when the browser indicator of download was finished. And until 2019, service packs were not large - 200-500Mb at most, so download times were not enough to aggravate anyone.
Now, it's only available only via the update items in the help menu. Supposedly, it also includes an ability to continue working whilst the download occurs in background: there's a very brief phrase about that in the update message panel. But there is absolutely no indication of what is going on once you click on OK in the update message box; no indication of download, nor how it is progressing. I for one have complained about that lack of any activity indicator several times, and so have others, but it's been like water off a deaf duck's back.
Since 2019, the service packs have been large - over 1gb each, the last one 1.5gb. On any typical 50mpbs broadband link that's going to take 15-20 minutes to do even in the nominal idle periods of the day (not so many of those in these pandemic times). So - expecting the no indication of download, I just let it run. What irritated me this time was the excessive install time; maybe 10 minutes AFTER the install progress bar got to 100% before the installer finish panel appeared. And there is absolutely no advice or instruction on this anywhere that bears Corels mark.
Not really surprised that users are expressing concern about this - but it's not new and Corel hasn't been listening.

Re: VS 2020 August Update
As for downloading and installing the service pack I had no problems
Usually I avoid the Check for Updates option to test out the Auto Update that usually shows after a few days, mind you if I had not read this post I would not realise an update was available until it was offered through the program, so no problems there
Having a slow broadband I realise it was gonna take a while to download so simply ignored the progress, which showed at the top right of Video Studio UI, I even closed Video Studio, the download continued in the background, on launching the program again showed the progress bar.
Eventually I was given a message that the pack was ready to install, cannot remember the actual wording. I ignored that to install later the following day.
That install took approx. 4 minutes as described in my earlier post.
So for me It worked ok other than an hour + to download which reflects my router speed, more akin to pigeon post
