Problems Capturing DV from Sony TRV480

Post by netmation »

Connected Sony-TRV480 to Windows 10 PC running VideoStudio Ultimate 2019. Connected camera to Firewire port, and having the following problems.

1. It is properly recording files to AVI format, initially. Source=Sony DV Device; Format=DV; Capture Video Properties = DV type=1
2. After recording a bit and I move the mouse on the computer the recording is shutting down, should it be that sensitive. Not touching anything the VideoStudio software shuts down when the AVI file is getting to about 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 GBytes (tried 3 different times).
3. I can not drag these AVI files being captured to the timeline into edit mode, get a circle with line through it and the timeline will not accept the files.

Any thoughts, should I be having these difficulties? Thanks.

Hi netmation
And welcome to the forums
What you describes seems unusual, It has been a while since I captured DV-Avi but certain I did not have these problems.
There is other software that can transfer the DV-Avi from the camera to the pc, Then import the files to Video Studio for editing
WinDv is one that should do the job. http://windv.mourek.cz/

I googled and found some details regarding capturing here
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/384 ... ually-work
If you still have problems using other capture software then I would suspect your firewire IEEE card or cable

Oh, you should also try capturing using the Split by Scene option, this creates individual files of each scene, assuming there are separate scenes

Hope this helps
