Davinci Resolve has a high overhead need for computing power. Although it's "free", it has a steep learning curve, uses nodes, and again, to have a good experience, you will need that appropriate hardware and at least 32GB of RAM.
What David said about buying from a store is oh so true. Most employees don't really know what is required for video editing. And they have "push" products to sell.
And what if you decide to try another editor? Most long time editors have several editing software on their desktop. I do. So if you skimp now with VSP and decide to try something else, your experience might not be that great.
So while VSP might not make much use of your CPU, you might try another that does.
As for drives. It depends on the software you use or plan to in the future. Having NVME/RAID helps with some software I use. But it is dependent on what type of video footage you are working with and fx used.
With a lot of consumer editors, a fast mechanical is fine.

If someone is going to try Davinci Resolve, they better have something more potent than an i5 10400F. They better have more than 16GB of RAM, and a very capable graphics card.

P.s. For the people that might be interested in D Resolve: (My point in my post is that VS is asleep. You don't 'need' a mega-ninja computer, which is a shame, so there's no harm in buying more but don't be under the impression that you'll be getting x as CV will only ever give y.)
