I get the splash screen, Task Manager shows a launching app running, then finally it just stops, no Videostudio 2020 launched. I am not sure what changed on my system, this was working just a couple of days ago. I re-installed 2018 just to get some work done, but can't figure out the problem.
Tried restarting the system - no dice
Tried running only Videostudio, no other programs - no dice
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling - still no dice
Hopefully someone knows what's up
Videostudio 2020 won't start for me

Re: Videostudio 2020 won't start for me
Hi dcsj57
There was an issue with earlier versions, I am unsure if the same affected 2020
Corel provided a fix for x10 and 2018 although did fix issues with 2019
Please view this post
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=65289
Worth a try
Of course you would use this folder, I would create a copy of MPEG folder in case you wish to revert / remove the fix.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2020\Common Files\MPEG
Please report back on the outcome so I can update Corel Video Studio X10 / 2018 and 2019 Not launching post

Re: Videostudio 2020 won't start for me
Hi, thanks for the replies.
There was a Win10 update last week but I can't remember if I applied it before or after using Videostudio 2020.
I tried the fix mentioned above, unzipped the dll file to this path:
"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2020\Common Files\MPEG\iEncoder.dll" (I renamed the previous file to iEncoder_old.dll)
Still no luck. Splash screen comes up, lots of churning... I can see the loader program using the CPU in Task Manager, but then after a fairly long try it just stops.

Re: Videostudio 2020 won't start for me
Can you try resetting the program by renaming this folder from 23.0 to 23.0_old
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\23.0
Launching the program should create a new folder
Video Studio does take a while to launch especially on its first try, then it should be relatively quick
I assume the program has ran ok in the past or is this your first attempt to launch the program?

Re: Videostudio 2020 won't start for me
Awesome! that did it. Renamed the 23.0 folder to 23.0_0ld, clicked the icon in the Start menu, saw that it created a new 23.0 folder, and within a few seconds the program launched. Thanks Trevor, and thanks to all who offered their help.
