Converting daytime shot to night time?

Post by AMartin777 »

Can anybody suggest a method for converting a daytime shot to night time using filters? Thanks!

Hollywood has never done it convincingly, at least in colour. If you go outside on a braw, bricht, moonlicht nicht, you will never see colours (actually, you may just do so on the very brightest full moon, but this is exceptional). I therefore suggest that your first action is to apply a monochrome filter. Then reduce the brightness and contrast and finally apply a highlight colour of a bluish grey, rather than white. Takes a lot of tries to do it just right.
