Load "special" *.jpg does not show it correctly in PSP

Post by pstein »

With almost all images I have no problem loading them into PSP X2.

But there is one exception: A couple of week ago I bought a new Xiaomi Smartphone MI9.

When I take a screenshot on this smartphone, then transfer it to my Windows computer and try to load it into PSP it shows only black and colored stripes.

On the other hand when I display it with all other image viewers like wide spread XnView or IrfanView this screenshot IS displayed correctly.
Even this forum shows it correctly

So this must be a bug in PSP.

Maybe a ICC profile or preference isn't set correctly.

Maybe someone can help me.

I attached a sample snapshot and how it appears in PSP

Thank you
Peter

After a bit of testing it shows correctly in
PSP8
PSPX4 up to PSP 2020
It does not show correctly in PSP X2 or PSP X3.

The image does not have any Exif information and no embedded color space .
It may be that X2 and X3 are making a bad guess at the changes to convert it to sRGB whereas all other versions that I mentioned make better guesses including the Jasc PSP8.

When I save it using Irfanview it loads correctly into X2 and X3.
