Chroma Key on a Mask

Post by john4647 »

My apologies if there is a basic simple answer to this.

I am trying to create a short clip, using footage I already have, in the form of a circle with chroma key applied to it, for use on the overlay track.

Not sure if I am explaining this correctly?

You explain correctly but a picture will make it clearer.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Not a moving circle, I just want to create a clip inside a circle and place this in the overlay track. So that is shown in the main Video track as an overlay.
I can do this using masks but I am unable to use a chroma key on the clip as VS accepts the chroma key but drops the mask.
This appears to be the same if I use chroma key first and then the mask, VS accepts the chroma key but drops the mask.
Maybe a mask is not the way to go.

Sorry I can't supply a clip or picture because I am unable to complete the task but let's say a Black color on the Video track and any short video clip on the overlay. The end result I am looking for is a Project just showing my clip as a circle rather than a square or rectangle but with chroma key applied.

Hello,
I need the chroma key so that the background will be visible behind the subject.
I should have mentioned that the clip was shot in front of a green screen.

Hello,

They were the steps I was taking, although I am working with 2018 Ultimate.

My problem remains the same. I can apply chroma key and that works o/k.

However if I then apply a mask frame the chroma key ceases to work.

Also, if I apply a mask frame that works fine but if I then apply chroma key, the mask effect does not work.

It seems that I can have either of these effects but not both or am I missing something basic?

Thanks again for your time.

Hello again,

I think I must have a problem with my programme, no matter what sequence I try, either applying Chroma first and then Mask or vice versa. The last applied deletes the first applied.

I am applying Chroma key using the box shown then to apply a Mask, the same box is used, is this the correct way?

My screen does not look exactly like yours.

Two Chroma key tools?

Viewing the image provided by asik1 he has used the FX filter Chroma key to remove the green background, then he has used the programs Chroma key mask – eclipse to create the oval

Not on my pc so cannot check this at the moment.

I also used the Chroma Key FX (It's a New Blue FX) icon. However, having selected this, the colour adjustment is on the right hand side of the screen as per my arrow.

O/K, now I am really confused.

When I applied the New Blue Chroma Key to the clip, on every occasion until now, the screen had reverted to my previous picture.

That is to say, no other menu had appeared.

This morning, after applying the New Blue Chroma Key to the clip another menu appeared as per this picture.

I was then able to apply the mask and all was well.

However I can not repeat this, when I apply the NB Chroma Key FX, I can no longer access the menu as on the picture, it just does not appear and my screen reverts to the first picture I posted above. (No New Blue menu)

Several attempts at this and I can not get the NB menu to appear.
