DVD won't play

I have made a video, my dvd drive doesn't work on my home pc, so when I clicked on Share I chose MPEG4, and then after I saved it I copied it to memory stick.
I then took it to my work pc and burnt it onto dvd using Windows media player.
It plays fine on both my pc's but the dvd will not play on a dvd player.
Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?
I have also tried AVI and MOV but the dvd doesn't recognise any of them.

A DVD disc can be used to store files generally called a data disc, the files can be any format, images video word docs etc.
The disc can also be used as a DVD, the video files are converted to a format that our video players recognise.
I would think that you may have created a data disc.

You should explore the discs content if it simply shows video files then it’s a data disc and will not play on your DVD player.

If it’s a true DVD it will contain a Video_TS folder, the folder in turn will hold several types of file, the VOB files being the video content, this disc should play on the DVD Player.

To burn a DVD the files have to be Mpeg2, either we create those before starting the burning process or that process will do it for us, using Video Studio that process is called Convert Title which creates the Mpeg2 files.
Converting your video / project to any other format other than DVD - Mpeg2 is a waste of time and probably affect quality.

Your best option is to use Video Studio to Create a Disc Image, options below Create Disc
This will save the DVD as an ISO file, copy to USB stick, you should be able to use any PC provided it has a DVD burner to burn the ISO to disc.

Thanks, I will try that.
But I also just realised that I need the dvd to play on repeat, so I think I might have to install one of my older versions of videostudio onto my work pc, import the MP4 file and save as a project, then share to dvd as I would normally do?

Hi
MP4 is not the correct video format used to burn a DVD, you need a Mpeg2 video file.
If you create / burn a Disc Image aka Iso file that will contain the menu structure
The Iso file is an exact copy of the disc including the menu

Installing ImgBurn will allow you to burn the ISO to a DVD disc on any PC, providing that the pc has a DVD burner installed

You would not need to install Video Studio

What trial version and what were you using before? I am sure the "previous" version does a better job then the trial version. It is not really clear what you are trying to do

If you have the VLC player, it can be set to play on repeat, meaning when you get to the end, keep playing from the start.

I did not think the trial version supports burning Discs, I may be wrong.

As I mentioned earlier.
Your best option is to create a disc Image (ISO) this is an exact copy or the discs content including the menu structure
If you have set the Navigation Controls to repeat those settings will also be saved

Now use VCL to play the iso to check the quality

Then use IMG Burn to burn the ISO to disc, you should be able to do that on the works pc.
