Third party plugin for PSP2019
Apologies if this has appeared twice today due to a pc problem.
I have a Franzis Photoshop DENOISE filter which has file extension 8be. I have copied this to the plugins folder but it does not show up in PSP. Can PSP2019 use 8be extensions or only 8bf? Is there a way to be able to install it?

Re: Third party plugin for PSP2019
Hello,
in general .8be plugins are supported by PSP, along with .8bf, .8bi and .8ba. I think .8be ones deal with exporting stuff on devices, so maybe its options become available after you select File -> Export (of File -> Save) ? I am not sure.
But if that Franzis Photoshop DENOISE filter also comes with a stand-alone installation (from their website it seems like it does), you can use this script we were talking about the other day, in the scripts forum: https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f ... ts#p364735
Actually, the other day we were talking in this post: https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=67191
In short, it lets you send your current image to any external program, from within PSP, and when yu are done, it returns the resulted image as a new layer back in PSP. But you have to edit the path of the program you want, inside the code of the script (you can do that with any text-editor).
Let us know if either of the above worked.

Re: Third party plugin for PSP2019
What version of the denoise filter do you have? I downloaded a trial of DENOISE3 and all of the plugins were 8bf. As migf1 says .8be tends to be for exporting though I can't imagine why you would denoise on export.
Also, keep in mind 32-bit and 64-bit differences. Make sure you have the appropriate version of the plugin for the version of PSP you're using.
I will add, it's usually best not to copy plugins meant for a different program into the PSP Plugins folder. Your best bet is usually to use File Locations and just add the original location of the plugins to the list of folders PSP looks in for plugins.

Yes, it is the giveawayof the day filter and the file that it downloads is an 8be I have tried the procedure given by migf1 above, but it just opens a second image again in PSP and doesn't switch to Denoise. I checked the addresses are correct in lines 24 & 26. I'll play with it over the next day or so and see what happens.
Thanks for all the advice.

Well, here's its Readme: http://prntscr.com/t6idhc
By just browsing the zip file, all available filters are indeed .8be, but maybe after running the installer and registering the program, more stuff show up... I dunno!
I think I'll pass (LOL) .. unless someone confirms it is indeed worth it
EDIT: Btw, the free version of Nik Collection (just fill in your email) includes a pretty good denoiser, called: Dfine 2!

Re: Third party plugin for PSP2019
I also downloaded the giveaway, the plugins do indeed show up in the Export menu. file -> Export -> Plugins -> DENOISE which is so weird. But they also all error out with an unspecified error. Impossible to say why, other than they didn't specifically test and make sure this plugin would work with non Photoshop software.
Haven't tested the software myself, yet. So no idea if it's worth the hassle.
Small note Norfolkman6, if it just openes a second image as a new layer, that means that the application returned control to the calling script before it had finished. A problem that has been brought up before with other external software and I believe dealt with. But I don't remember the details and will have to look. I mean we could do it with the pause script. ......doesn't matter. I'll look for it after work.

In that thread you'll see the poster had the same issue with LandscapePro that you're having with DENOISE.
What they do is they put this bit of code in between the line that calls the program, and the one that opens the saved image. That's lines 95 and 97.

Re: Third party plugin for PSP2019
My thanks to everyone for the help.
I'll give Denoise a try as a standalone and if it's not worth the effort, I'll leave it there. Maybe just rely on Nik Collection.
