Error adding a file into Project

Post by RobCharles1981 »

Hello all.
Using Corel Video Studio X10 - I may at some point get the latest version - 2020 if there have been some improvements.
Anyway - I made a video today and Corel is not letting me add a particular file into the project, yet the video plays fine. This is the message (see attached)
Any ideas how to fix this?

Cheers!
Rob

If you are planning to install 2020 on the same PC, be aware that there's an occasional issue with installing a later VS version on a PC that has prior versions. I've had months of problems - and thinking about them - regarding installing later versions of VS on a PC that has an "in-place migrated" windows10 installation. Essentially, the later version install seems to capture the VC++ redistributables used by the earlier version, such that selecting the share page on that earlier version (eg, open X10, select share mode) then fails to open correctly: half done with the activity circle just blinking at you. Task manager the only way out. Multiple installs on a clean windows 10 PC - or if you bought it with win10 pre-installed - don't seem to have that problem. And no one I've talked to on various windows forums for 6 months can advise any idea why it happens like that.

Hi Rob
As the file is a MTS I assume it is direct from a camcorder with no additional editing
Have you imported the file from the camcorders card to the PC? Then trying to insert to X10
Is it just this file that you are having issues with 00038.MTS do others in the same batch work ok
How does 00037.MTS

If it is just this file then I would think the file itself is corrupt.
This can happen sometimes but a rare occurrence.
If you use a small program called Media Info then it may show the actual video files properties which may help.

You could try using a video converter to create another copy.

Sorry David but your comments do not help Rob with his video import issue.
As you are the only person having problems with W10 , X10 and 2020 It is unlikely that Rob would experience the same should he install 2020.

Hi that's right the files where recorded from my camcorder in MTS.
All of the files where moved from the SD Card into my folder.
Its just this file that doesn't work in the program, yet when I open the file in VLC Player - it functions correctly

I've checked the file using Media Info and appears ok to me.

What video convertor would you recommend? I have Any Video Converter but would like to keep the same file type properties for it's new file.
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob
You posted a similar issue regarding 2020, is this the same file, unfortunately you did not reply to my last post?
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 73#p378473
If it is the same problem then certainly its about time it was fixed

Conversion of MTS, not all video converters support MTS and where they do they probably use progressive and not interlaced frame rates, although we do not know what your video uses,
I have just tried one called Xmedia Recode and that seemed the better option for MTS, it also retained the original data rate where other converters did not. Xmedia Recode also had an option to “copy”, although I do not think that would help as its just gonna also copy any problems the file has
Even so converting may not fix the problem with this particular file.

By the way how long is the video file? and is the audio essential.

I think there is a glitch in the X10 Version of this program.
I took the plunge in re-getting the 2020 edition, and imported the file and it accepted it no problem.
Confused!
