Unformatted DVD after writing in Ulead

Post by Gary-STFC »

Followed the recommended procedure and wrote a fully working DVD using the Create Disc function in VS9. All burns ok, but when I go to play the disc back Windows tells me the disc is unformatted? I tried it in another PC and it works ok in that, but is there a setting in Ulead which causes this? I find it strange that the drive that wrote the disc then claims the disc is unformatted?

You would have to give us more information (i.e, your system specs, your burner's model and the type of disc you used) for us to give a proper solution. :)

Yes, please tell us more about your system spec and the disc type/brand.

However from the symtoms, the disc might have some compatibility issue with the burner in your system. If it takes a long time to load the disc (maybe more than 30 sec) then it should be the case.

It would usually to be fixed by using another branded media that is compatible with your burner, or update the firmware of your burner. (But to update the firmware by yourself is not suggested. You should contact the tech support of the burner manufacturer for the firmware issue)

To know what disc media is compatible with your burner, you can check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters

That would also happen when the laser power of your burner is getting weaker. If this is the case, that means your burner is going to be mulfunction and you need to relpace your burner to a new one.

Hope this helps.

The fact that the disk plays in another PC indicates that the disk is fine. You're looking at some sort of software problem -- do you have a DVD decoder installed on the PC where the disk won't play?
