Custom UI layout: Snap panels?

Post by DaveG74 »

I am using Corel VideoStudio [trial] for the very first time. I'm just barely getting into this so far, but my first observation is the UI layout.

For instance, I'd like the video preview panel on the right and the media panel on the left. (Bottom panel timeline is fine where it is.) However, when I move the panel around, there's no way to snap them in place. Therefore, I'm free-flowing the panels around the screen and sizing/positioning them individually -- and manually -- by sight. This is awkwardly frustrating and inefficient.

Is there any way whatsoever to snap these UI panel in place where I'd like them? I'd figure that would be a basic function today.
Thanks in advance.

When you have repositioned the layout, go to Settings/Layout Settings/Save to, then select Option #1 #2 or#3

Hi
There is a snap to, drag the media library to the far left, drag till your cursor reaches the side of the monitor
You should then see a blue arrow to position the panel
Resize the panels
Settings – Layout settings – Save to – Custom # ( Alt+1)
F7 will reset to default view

Aha! :)
I thought those Arrow icons represented a full-screen positioning, as the highlight looks misleading when you use them.
But as you said, the Arrows snapped all three panels perfectly alongside each other with no overlap.

Thank you for your assistance! :)
